Oh yeah. MAGA talking heads have been saying this for weeks now. Charlie Kirk had a full segment on it earlier this week saying the new FBI director will make heads explode. He's been camped out at Mar-a-Lago for 2 weeks now advising Trump and their team  I've learned if you listen to the MAGA talking head shows and watch their socials they blabber out than plans before it's out there but people don't take them seriously.

She is not taking 6 weeks she's gone for a few days Yall are being hyberbolic and using this as an excuse to score political points against a woman you dont like.

She will be back on Monday  Nevermind the fact that her aides said she would be available to break ties if she was needed. The outrage is purely optics based, there is nothing substantive here to melt down over and that's obvious unless you are consumed by seething resentment towards this woman

Any amount of time is significant, and she's wasted a full week of the lame duck session when a lot of the other weeks left in the year are also blacked out due to holidays. Holidays that she could have waited for instead of squandering valuable borrowed time.

 

Schumer has also already surrendered four appointments to Trump thanks to Kamala sipping mimosas and martinis on the beach. "Optics based" indeed

No one said you're somehow more privileged than *every* American nor argued that the average Australian is more privileged or richer than *every* American. You know that's not a serious argument nor what was said. 

 

Of course affluent and rich Americans have far more riches than those in other Western nations. America is a rich nation. But most Western nations have a basic guarantee and floor of provided protections and services for a minimum standard of living that many poor Americans don't experience. Referencing labor protections and guaranteed time off as enjoyed elsewhere while not by for tens of millions in America was to that point. 

 

You say you can be deeply empathetic to Americans and thus aren't alien to the conversation, but your instinct to protect and defend what are to you just foreign diplomats and leaders and talk down to Americans questions that.

 

You're suggesting anyone having a negative sentiment to Harris venturing off on vacation is just a disgruntled extremist yet the average American is fueled by a deep-seeded mistrust of politicians as elitists and legislation as a thing of affluent academics and the highly educated. 

 

And instead of feeling snark towards these issues - as your posts often come across, othering yourself as an Australian by making it clear you obviously feel smarter or wiser as an Australian on how to exist in a nation than the average American - someone empathetic would question what conditions and circumstances create a population so wary of elites and resentful of elected officials as posh and privilege as opposed to viewing them as just a nation of innately conservative beasts.

Someone's nationality shouldn't somehow exclude them from discussing American politics. Obviously American politics impacts countless portions of the world. 

 

The issue of intent just comes into question when someone's sole engagement with American politics is scolding and claiming American people are regressive by nature - "Oh, you silly poor dumb progressives. Don't you know you're in a nation of uncivilized, uneducated beasts? Better things aren't possible in America so accept centrist pragmatism as the only way forward".

 

It's like when European try parroting that "of course universal progressive policies aren't going to work in such a country of so many races....". Like...oh; that's already iffy of a statement but worse when non-Americans try to say it. Like let's back up a bit here and realize what we're suggesting...
