Vermillion Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago U.S. v. Skrmetti ruling will come in June 2025 and will likely be the new Bowers v. Hardwick which will take another 20-30 years to overturn. Huge, huge blow to trans rights incoming, imho. The climate of Bowers was AIDS then it took from 1986 to 2003 for Lawrence. The context right now is the massive ad campaign that analysis is now crediting with swinging moderate white women and Latino men. 1

Why are you so against Americans having healthcare? Edited 2 hours ago by Communion 1

My Miami friend's dad (Cuban) said he would vote for Kamala but just couldn't because "can you imagine what happens when a black woman gets angry in there?" So many Miami Cubans love to use the n word among each other but then treat black people like they are less than human. 3 1

So many Miami Cubans love to use the n word among each other but then treat black people like they are less than human. It makes no sense to me. A black guy at my work who is usually very liberal said he didn't vote for Kamala "because women are too emotional to be in charge." It's so sexist here and I hate it. 1

You don't have a career, shut up! Be quiet! Be quiet while grown folks are talking, you don't have anything going for yourself, you have a flop analysis career, let it go! Stay out of people's business, you're not worth a thing! I just... of COURSE he's seeing the GOP-swing in the cities and the first two buzzwords coming to mind are immigration and crime. I get that people are responding to polling with answers of "oh, crime is too high and there are too many immigrants", but outside of like... fluke one-off cases, crime is down drastically across the country (especially in cities!) and the immigrants in question aren't even competing with people for jobs because they legally can't work, and the jobs that don't care about legality are like meatpacking sweatshops and citrus orchards and those don't exist in cities The only reason these are the going narratives is because the GOP has made them such because they appeal to base self-preservation instincts in the electorate but they are verifiably false, and the Democrats are just accepting them without any pushback, oh Harry Enten I HATE you Edited 1 hour ago by wastedpotential 1
Thuggin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 29 minutes ago, Armani? said: Here they go with the crime narrative Again, the "facts don't care about your feelings" "**** your feelings" crowd is ironically very insistent that it FEELS like crime is up even when you point out to them that crime is down Those big cities being mentioned makes me believe that what people are really describing is discomfort with homeless people who are on drugs and make scenes in the streets or on public transportation - which maybe has gotten to be more of a problem in the last few years? idk, I don't have any data on that - but that's different than crime. They probably are inundated with videos of teams of shoplifters clearing Sephora shelves across their social media feeds too. Either way, it probably does come across as condescending and out of touch when Democrats listen to people complain about crime and tell them, "No you're wrong, crime isn't an issue and it's actually down" when they'll just be like, "I see it with my own eyes!" So I guess we'll see if Republicans have a solution other than paving the homeless and their camps off the streets! 1

That makes Kamala's answer "follow the law" sound even weaker. 1

Thuggin Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago The 2020 primaries really were crazy because why was "free gender affirming surgeries for undocumented immigrants in jail" the litmus test back then fkshkfkdkf Me personally idgaf, it's probably so extremely rare that it even happens anyway if it even happens at all. And I understand how some may see opposition to it as a slippery slope to eroding trans rights, incarcerated rights, migrant rights, all that, but like it's hard to even imagine a more unpopular position among the electorate. Starting to believe some of the activist groups that would push for answers on these super edge case scenarios were actually ops 1
