Armani? Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Also I keep hearing @GhostBox talking about Black Babyboomers for what we should or should not do. That electorate is fading away & Democrats aren't doing that great of a job with talking with under 50 year old Black voters, who are becoming a humongous part of the electorate. An outside Pac had to run Stop & Frisk ads for Kamala a week before the election, instead of her own campaign Like... 2

My "obsession" with her is that she has economic policies that would legit appeal to rust belt voters (I live in the rust belt) and they have told me so in their own words. Repealing right to work in Michigan (something no other Governor in the country has done) is more popular and appealing than anything any of the potential 2028 "stars" have to their name. Its a hell of a lot better than "I will appoint republicans in my cabinet" that's for damn sure
GraceRandolph Posted November 9 Posted November 9 @Bloodflowers. people still shitting on Marianne even though she was warning us all along

It's just they would be labeled a hypocrite and bashed by the media for trying to pull a grump and being a sore loser. When he takes office you'll see them all saying this more publicly once again.

ATRLers: "we need someone with a track record of economist accomplishments that can appeal to the millions upon millions of voters we lost from Obama to Trump. Me: "okay, how about the only governor in the country to repeal a law that's largely unpopular with states with a heavy union population" Atlers: "I don't get the obsession with her at all" 1

GraceRandolph Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Status quo politicians are OVER. Time for a charismatic champion of the working class who is a political outsider. It's that or losing to Trump, Vance or Haley. 1 2

I remember seeing a poll where Biden was behind Trump in NJ and I found it so hard to believe, but with the election results... yeah, it was entirely possible. 1

Cruel Summer Posted November 9 Posted November 9 16 minutes ago, GraceRandolph said: Watch the Dems run Pete Buttigieg/Liz Cheney in 2028 and get the lowest black turnout in history. Worry not my friend, for Buttigieg will never be near a campaign the White House again for this, that, or any reason. I will personally give my entire soul to a true progressive in the Michigan gubernatorial primary, in which I'm almost certain he's going to run, and I will do everything in my power to ensure his campaign is so thoroughly decimated that the only thing he will ever do again is sit at home alone with Chasten and cry - or go work for a private equity firm or something, I don't care what he does with his private life. But serious consideration for public office, ever again? Not a whisper of a chance. 1 2
Armani? Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Gretchen would secure Michigan, but she would have to be much more progressive campaign for the other states which the current party is opposed to happening (until they do this it's over) But the Democrats aren't nominating a women in 2028 unfortunately. I mean, they believe it's all sexism this time so not going to happen. 1

It's really hard to find information on what vote is exactly left but this is the best update I could find: Quote Most voters cast ballots by mail in Arizona, and by Friday there were still more than 700,000 ballots remaining to be counted, according to the secretary of state's office. Most are in Maricopa and Pima Counties, which contain Phoenix and Tucson and tend to lean more Democratic. The later-arriving mail ballots in Maricopa, however, have been leaning more Republican. His lead has been dwindling and now only sits at ~35k when it was previously expanding and up at ~50k the last time I checked. Miss Petty might yet come through. I guess we will have to see. 1
RihRihGirrrl Posted November 9 Posted November 9 (edited) James Carville said the Dems need to start acting like the opposition party and occupy the DNC over the next 4 years and send out massive communication campaigns framing Trump/Republicans like the ultimate betrayers of working class people when they inevitably give all of the tax breaks to billionairs and pass legislation that guts the working class and unions..... He said the narrative for the next 4 years should be about 'betrayal'.....he's kinda on to something. Of course this needs to be coupled with a strong platform of what Dems will do for working class people. Edited November 9 by RihRihGirrrl 4
Vermillion Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I'm gonna need to start seeing studies, focus groups, books and doctoral theses on this EXACT dynamic and not just anecdotes, please 3
Bamboo Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I think Whitmer is fine but I also think Dems won't nominate another woman for a long time. The first female president will be a Republican let's not get that twisted.

What is with these Democratic insiders who are largely entirely responsible for the failures for why we got here….suddenly making a lot of sense? Pelosi, Carville and Psaki having a better ear to the ground than just about anyone as of late. I don't get it. Then I fully expect them to pull out all the stops for a landslide Shapiro victory in the 28 primaries and "make sure you don't forget about the REPUBLICANS we need to appeal to too!" 2

americanlife Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I really hope this election is the wake up call to the Democratic Party that the progressives were right all along and the party needs a complete overall. We need all new progressive pro working class, pro American family agenda. I don't know if the DNC will come to terms with this. 4 2
