Yeah, I think we're on the same page. It may not be quite as widespread as it is with Arab and Latino communities, but there's definitely a shift in (working-class) Black people too. Often a shift to the couch rather than to the GOP, but either way, a shift away from the Dems. All we ever really get from the party are platitudes, symbolism, and some Black faces in high places. We said "stop the killer cops!" and they...painted some Black Lives Matter murals and gave the cops a raise lol.

We've already seen a couple election cycles with turnout dips for Black men, and now, at least in a few places, there's some modestly-higher numbers going for Trump. If Dems don't change the way they campaign, legislate and govern in regards to our communities, then I see that trend continuing.

They called Black Americans pushing reparations Russian bots :suburban:

Let them eat cake party.

To me it all depends on who the candidate is and what their message is, and these trends can swing wildly in one direction to the other.

If only there was a candidate who appealed to working class voters and Latinos in 2016 and 2020.

Yvette is my representative and we want her out but :skull:

The way most black female progressives in the House (who aren't the Squad) are AIPAC shills and then most of the progressive black men.. could start collecting social security.

Progressives losing Barbara Lee for a failed Senate race and now this queen being the only non-Squad progressive connecting the new school to the old school.

maybe we can make some money out of this awful situation

It's kind of hilarious in a super morbid way how blindingly obvious the core problem at the heart of the Democratic Party's downfall is, like you can point to the moment it all started to fall apart (the moment Clyburn decided to endorse Hillary, IMO).

I can even point you to the last single moment that I felt genuine, unrestrained hope, too:

Can we admit that Kamala's coconut tree/BRAT memes were a mistake? She needed to IMMEDIATELY distance herself from Biden and push some economic policy.

An open convention would've been a mess, but maybe there would've been some idea of how to energize the base at least?

Y'all keep saying this but the woman is the current VP...no one was going to by her throwing the President under the bus in an effort to 'distance' herself. Win or lose, she was always going to be seen as the incumbent and Biden's right hand wo(man).

Bernie's rally with AOC after the heart attack was it for me. It really started to wane after Warren's sexist smear, followed by when Bernie blew out Biden in Nevada and suddenly the entire media rallied together to report on Bernie as a Russian asset, called his supporters "brown shirts" and so on.

Then she shouldn't have been the nominee. Period.

She was the only one in positioned enough to even put up a fighting chance in 100 days.

Oh the aftermath of all that was definitely sickening. From that point until the first primaries and caucuses brought me straight into blackpilled "it's all a ******* pointless lie" territory - and some of those views on politics, to be entirely transparent, stick with me today. My personal darkest day, recorded I'm sure in our own 2020 election thread somewhere, was the 2020 Iowa caucus Pete/Shadow, Inc. disaster. That was when I knew with absolute certainty that the party was going to do everything it could to crush the Sanders candidacy faster and harder the second time around, and sure as **** it did so.

That problem goes away entirely in a timeline where Biden decides before 2023 not to recklessly commit to running again.

Well there was no time for an actual primary because Biden dropped out so late....

What followed South Carolina was the day I gave up on the party and I developed a cynicism I can't let go of. The following Super Tuesday was such a depressing ass day for me. I was honestly more upset then than I was this recent electoral outcome. I truly think the consolidation around Biden, the man that could barely speak and was widely hated, to prevent Bernie from being the nominee really snapped me out of whatever confidence I had with the party. It became clear the "protectors of Democracy" truly do not care about Democracy in any meaningful capacity.
