He has won the election so he doesn't need Elon's money or GOTV effort (and I doubt he'd feel the need to keep the relationship good for any successor).

 

Elon will likely get some role in the Trump administration but if he does anything that impacts Trump's popularity he's likely to turn on him. Trump loves a good Elon drag.

 

The other thing is that Trump has always had a dislike of electric cars. He's only silencing himself on the topic at the moment because he has needed Elon. If their relationship starts to break down, electric car trash talking will probably be the first sign. The cynic in me also thinks that Elon is somewhat grifting to try and grow electric car usage amongst the American right (where it has traditionally lagged) and Trump knows that's where he can hurt him the most.

I'm just sad because Walz could have been an option for Democrats going forward if he wasn't tied to this ticket.

 

I think he's too linked with the establishment now for him to truly have an organic rise. I'd happily be proven wrong though.

And I've seen multiple comments from people saying they checked their ballot status in swing states and they're back to still processing or denied after they said they went through. I also saw a woman from Pennsylvania saying weeks before the election some younger people with ipads were going around more urban areas saying the were with the democrats and asking if they wanted to process their vote early so they can beat the long lines on election day and some people on ground there said they didn't recognize the people to be a part of the Harris ground team. It was weird all around. Someone said it sounded like someone a part of Elon's ground team.

Maybe I'm just coping but I don't think it's completely over for him. He had the highest approval ratings of anyone campaigning and his message did connect with people. They should've leaned into the rhetoric he's able to deliver rather than neutering him in favour of including everyone in the coalition.
