It's so laughable that the liberal pundits are now entertaining the idea of tossing the LGBTQ+ community under the bus: ignore trans people altogether, blame pronouns, etc. It is laughable because this is the exact reason why other groups are abandoning liberalism en masse. They get blamed for their losses, they are given nothing but contempt, and then they expect your vote 4 years later. It's a vicious cycle, but it's important to highlight because people need to see the hypocrisy. 14 5

Also, they're making the mistake of thinking "Well yeah we may lose some LGBT votes for throwing them under the bus but we'll offset that with the votes we gain!" Really? LGBT people made up 8 percent of the voting population, overrepresented compared to the voting eligible population because we bust our asses to vote blue. That's almost 7 percent of the vote reliably going to the Democratic nominee provided they're the party that treats us with dignity. Without us, it's a Trump popular vote blowout win. Do they really believe discarding us will help them? The people who hate us won't start voting Democrat just because Democrats suddenly start attacking us. They will always prefer Republicans because why settle for anti-LGBT-lite if you can have the real deal. If Republicans are the ones who were "right the entire time". It will only validate Republicans in their beliefs and give them permission to up the cruelty on us and allow that cruelty into the Overton window. 9 5
