Arrows Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Bernie should've been the rightful candidate in 2020 and reality would be so different today imo
shimind Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Can Biden try to be d*ctator now ? A dem dictator would surely be better than a Republican one

Most Americans won't vote for a man who takes it up the ass. And he can't excite the young voters, leftists, Black voters. So it would be a landslide of epic proportions for the Republicans
Thuggin Posted November 7 Posted November 7 This time is so different than 2016. 2016 could've been argued as a fluke. The Electoral College. Slimmer margins. Third parties. Low turnout across the board. People didn't entirely know what they were getting with Trump. He didn't run on a dictatorial platform and even moderated on a lot of issues. "It shouldn't have happened but maybe Trump wouldn't be much worse than your average Republican. Most people I interact with in the world didn't want this." 2024 I can't even be angry. I'm just numb. These are people who experienced the Trump years and a resounding majority of voters decided they want that back even after the insurrection attempt, two impeachments, 34 felony count, and unapologetically leaning into the most far right platform and choices for his administration as possible. And not even young people were exempt; we can't dismiss it as old people being old people stuck in their ways but at least we can find comfort in our own generation. It's a very tough pill to swallow as someone targeted by the very agenda they ran on not to feel like it was a referendum on your humanity that ultimately won, even though I know the economy was the biggest factor. Still, it's like your family, neighbors, co-workers, all who smile at you and are polite to you every day, heard all the bad things they threatened us with, and they ultimately didn't care at all. 13 1

We don't need another one.
Save-Me-Oprah Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I know J. Ann Fabrics is out here trying to figure out where she went wrong with the Iowa poll someone missed a decimal in their excel formula or something 1
Pikachoo Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Rosen will win her NV senate race looking like a 47-53 senate split and a 6-7 R house majority. Republicans fumbled the bag so bad here. you should be winning these down ballot races easily when Trump won as handily as he did. there's some truth to people turning out for Trump and no one else. 4 1
K.O Posted November 7 Posted November 7 If Jared golden wins his house seat (which seems likely) how do we about him challenging Susan Colins in 2026 for her senate seat? I think he would have a shot at unseating her unless there's another Maine democrat with high name recognition that I don't know about.

Oh girl as soon as gas prices go up and in the weeks after his tariffs go into effect I'm gonna be perched on my small town Facebook feed to watch the whining and crying. If anything positive came from this, it's gonna be watching all these people see the fruits of the seed they planted come to harvest. Eat up mother *******s
Beyonnaise Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Ezra makes a good point that liberals were devastated in 2004 after Bush won reelection and thought the answer was to run a tough macho white guy from Montana, and never would have thought a black anti-Iraq freshman senator with the middle name Hussein could win the Rust Belt. The answer of who the Dems should run next to win back the working class is not immediately identifiable. That's why the existing structure needs to be dismantled immediately. New faces. No more seniority bullsh*t of the same establishment fossils that have ran the party since the 90s. 5 2

Honestly, I would stop being nice to these people and when it comes to family members, I would just be open about it. Change doesn't just come from the top, it has to happen in the middle of society. I also know someone who is nice but watches Joe Rogan, Andrew Tate and other right-wing videos. He thought I was a str8 guy. One day I just came out and mixed in a bit of my political views and it was interesting. I do think it made a difference. A lot of people don't realize that they know LGBT+ people. I always thought I was obviously gay but so far everyone has been surprised when I came out. We have to live our values and views just as openly as those on the right. 2
