I just don't understand it at all. I'm just trying one day at a time. I'm so worried. I know it's hard, and I'm really sorry. But if I've learned anything from these past several months is that there are a lot of kind and knowledgeable people in this thread that want nothing more to help, and we're gonna need that these next four years. Some sort of community to keep ourselves sane and to vent and ask questions when we need it. I hope that moving forward we can find a way to have a base for us to do whatever kind of outreach we can for each other. We can get through this ❤️ 3

She has turned into seasoned politician since the beginning. AOC's live stream actually won me over for her. I wasn't a huge fan but watching that, idk....it made me cry lmao. The way she speaks just hit the right spots i guess. She wasn't acting like a typical politician, she was just talking to everyone like a normal person and it seemed like she actually cares, unlike most of washington. Idk, she won me over. 4
Popular Post DR0GO Posted November 7 Popular Post Posted November 7 While I'm legit heartbroken that our girl loss, I'm going to use this anger and frustration and channel it into something productive. I'm tired of standing by and feeling hopeless. After thinking about it for years, this election has been the tipping point in finally deciding that I want to go to law school to become a defense attorney. Thank you Kamala for the 90 or so days of joy and excitement you were able to inject into this race; as a black man, your run was inspiring. There's a lot of work and soul searching that needs to be done, but if these MAGA f*cks think we're going to just watch them tear our democracy to the ground, they're in for a rude awakening! 17 1
VOSS Posted November 7 Posted November 7 It's incredibly depressing to be stuck with Trump for another four years, but I do think (pray) people will be absolutely sick of him by 2028. I also would like to think Dems will have done some soul searching and will be able to put their heads together and come up with a compelling case and a winning message. And most importantly a strong candidate. Surely the R's 2028 nom will be Trump's handpicked successor and he doesn't have a great track record with personnel choices. This is what I tell myself. 4

Biden really screwed her over by waiting so long to get out of the race. With the small amount of time that she had, it's honestly amazing that she did even as well as she did. A reminder: Trump started his 2024 campaign 2 YEARS ago in November 2022. Unlike the 2016 campaign, it feels like this time around there was at least a massive effort. The groundwork, the multiple rallies.. those are probably the reason that the results weren't as bad when Biden was running and polling lower than ever before. But now with a fully fledged campaign next time, they really need to think on what to do. Cannot do the same/similar thing again. A new voice both in terms of content and quite frankly new in terms of how tied he is to the current top in the DNC we will see tho 5

jakeisphat Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Another silver lining is that this definitely clears the way for someone fresh in 2028. If Biden hadn't dropped out, Kamala may very well have been the nominee in 2028 simply because she would have had the most name recognition/highest rank and the DNC may have cleared the way for her like they did Hillary/Biden. If she were the 2028 nominee, that would have guaranteed democrats two losses in a row unless Trump has another pandemic level fumble. At least now no party leaders will risk putting her up again and the primaries can proceed with people that are mostly unknown on a national level. And I truly hope the DNC doesn't **** it up by trying to prop up Pete or Newsom, because they'd lose worse than Kamala. 8

I'm surprised we aren't having this conversation more. I'm a hardcore leftist, but the fact that Biden is still president when he is clearly suffering from cognitive decline is terrifying. That man has access to nuclear codes but has to be in bed by 8:30 to speak halfway coherently in public? The fact that the 25th amendment hasn't been invoked yet is irresponsible and reprehensible. We all saw that debate. It was sobering. I got chills of fear watching him speak and realizing he was our Commander in Chief. Obviously I voted Kamala (enthusiastically!), but she's too close to Biden to not be complicit. If the Republicans weren't descending into fascism/naziism and were the Republicans of the 2000s, having Biden on the ticket might cause me to flip. I'd vote a sane Republican like Romney or McCain over Biden's dementia-ridden ass in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, Republicans are descending into fascism/naziism, which means I'd vote for a pet rock over Trump and dementia is not a deal-breaker against a Republican white supremacist. At the end of the day, we needed Democrats to be on their A-game more than ever this year, but there is a man sitting in the Oval Office right now clearly unfit to be President. To me, that - not the economy, not Palestine, not immigration - is their biggest failure. The trust of millions of Americans was betrayed by the Democrats by pretending he's doing fine when he's clearly not. 3

tiejc Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Trump will royally **** up these 4 years but let's be real people will find excuses and engage in mental gymnastics to vote for the GOP regardless in 2028.
Rigalo Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Such an eerie day, I really can't draw any other comparison besides this exact day 8 years ago despite things feeling WORSE than then I keep having random glimmers of hope. Jay07 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) 15 minutes ago, BOOMBAYAH said: To reach young (and, let's be honest, mostly straight) men as leftists, the task essentially involves persuading them to relinquish their status as society's "top dogs" and to elevate women and minorities. This is challenging, especially in America, where status and individualism is the prevailing attitude. In recent times, feminist movements have tried to appeal to young men who feel depressed, struggle socially, or have trouble dating, by encouraging them to reject the patriarchy and toxic masculinity—because the patriarchy is what pressures them to fit into a rigid standard, when they could actually be free of these expectations and live a much freer life. However, the right reframed these efforts as society further degrading men and "masculinity," which set the stage for figures like Andrew Tate to gain influence. This makes it tough; even popular left-leaning men like Hasan or Destiny often need an edgy, "4chan-esque" appeal for men to listen to them (casually using slurs and misogynistic/racist jokes here and there), and in Hasan's case, also conventional attractiveness and masculinity to resonate with young men who idolize the gym-bro ideal. On top of all of this, it seems that once young men were presented with the chance to abandon patriarchy for freedom, they chose to stick with it. A lot of young men seem willing to accept the downsides of patriarchy and toxic masculinity for the slim chance of achieving a lifestyle like Andrew Tate's, where they can be sexist, racist, and homophobic without consequence and with reward—similar to working-class people voting for billionaire interests, hoping they'll someday be billionaires themselves. The situation is dire. God, you hit the nail on the head. We talked about it yesterday but this is the most shocking thing to me. Talking to these 20 something guys that are the opposite of the "chad", lonely, non athletic guys who play video games and don't have a lot of social currency, the way they idolize these ridiculous jocks from Rogan on down instead of rejecting the toxic masculinity stereotypes and attempting to reshape society in a more compassionate manner that will accept everyone... like white women, I have no idea why they fight against their own interests and become even more hateful of everyone that doesn't fit the stereotype of the straight, popular jock instead of understanding that if all outcasts band together, they can reshape society to be more tolerant and inclusive. Instead they get taught to hate women, people of color and LGBTQ. Why? Edited November 7 by Jay07 3

Worst debate performance ever and we all saw it coming. If he had stepped down earlier and allowed dems to have time for a primary, maybe trump still would've won but not with the absolute landslide that we're seeing now. Maybe it's the wake up call dems need but it's devastating that so many people have to suffer for that party to recognize they've lost touch with the people 5
