I know people on either side of the left-wing sphere don't want to hear it, but there are a lot of reasons that this ended up going the way that it did and a lot of sectors of the left-wing no matter how close to the center or far to the left they are hold some blame in it. That includes politicians and voters alike.

We have to stop the fighting, accept the blame that's ours, and figure this **** out. Every single person in here who is rushing to point fingers at each other needs to just shut the **** up because every wing of the left has something to atone for this time around. It's no one single block of voters, it's everybody.

And you can argue with me if you want, but it's true and there's nothing you can say or do to change it. What you can do is accept the fault and make an effort to try and fix this mess. We've got some semblance of hope that we can create a united front sometime in the future. 2026 is coming. I don't wanna hear any more of these ifs and buts and the "you're too liberal" or "you're too centrist" yadda yadda whatever.

Grow up, shut up, and fix this. Start thinking about your vulnerable neighbors and friends and family and cut the bullshit. All we've got is each other, clearly no one's gonna do this on our behalf. Lock in right the **** now and put the mess and squabbling of this whole cycle to bed because it absolutely loses.

There's no fixing this. The Democrats' only takeaway from this will be that they need to abandon the left, and the left will officially once and for all have nowhere to go.

Where did the people that voted in 2020 go :deadbanana: like how did it drop so much

California only has half of its votes in. Good chance that'll close the gap by a few million in popular vote. But, a lot of voters chose to sit home. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, I'm just kind of over Harris and won't/can't think about the huge loss anymore(I've been sick for a few days so this has been hell). Are there any leftist or progressive people that could fill the power vacuum that are interested in obtaining power? Hell, if she wants to, Stein could run....if we ever vote again.....

this goes way beyond the Democrats (and yes they're at fault too in case you couldn't tell)

also you guys are very much at fault for this as any of us:

Kamala Harris lost because she and Biden ran a right-wing administration catered to maintaining norms when people craved change from the right-wing status quo of America.

Either Democratic voters accept this or accept the end of their party.

Any attempts to obfuscate from this, even with good intentions, just perpetuates the cycle. The reason why Harris lost can be easily summarized as just this:

Would you agree that Biden initially ran a rather progressive campaign with BBB and hiring Sanders as one of his top advisors (and holding multiple meetings with just him). This is why I defended Biden so much a few weeks back against you, and I would hope you would admit this. I agree Biden flipped somewhere around 2023 and the BBB ultimately turned into something way less progressive (altho the CHIPS act is good). Biden ruined his own legacy imo.

It'll be the same ******* pattern it always is, voters vote against Democrats to punish them, Republicans take over and **** everything up, magically people are ready to vote in Dems again, Dems fix it and then voters once again vote against democrats to punish them.

Rinse and Repeat.

:keir: Why do I have this feeling that Elon and Trump will work out a deal with the Chinese and somehow end up with Tic Toc as another means to brainwashing the populace.   Propaganda will be important for them as it is in other dictatorships.

I thought this about him and Obama too, Obama switched real quick to a centrist. Makes sense he was his VP.

Biden was such a random choice in general back in 2020

Roughly the same amount of votes they lost.

Can Bernie run again in 2024? I hope this result emboldens AOC. I feel like she toed the line with Biden but now the writing is on the wall. The left need voices in the Dem party.

Who will be the big players in 2028 primaries for the dems?

Pete Buttigieg

Tim Walz (?)

Shapiro

AOC (?)

Whitmer

Beshear

Beto

Im sure there'll be a few surprises.

Republicans?

Obviously Nikki Hayley

Elon Musk?

Vance

One of the trumps?
Cruz

MTG ?

Yes.

its not that people don't care, they don't have the capacity to care because they are being KILLED by the violence that is capitalism.

here is the real problem. lefties need to realise cheaper prices > human rights for basically 90% of voters, that's why ironically republicans end up being more progressive than dems. poc/trans people join them in spewing the same populist bs that people want to hear and the voters don't mind in having these "less desirable" people by their side because they understand strength comes from unity and numbers. the enemy of my enemy is my friends, meanwhile lefties spent their entire day blaming the latinos/the white men/the less educated... you're just as horrible of a person!!

People thought name recognition and no identity politics was safest, and after 4 years of chaos they wanted politics to be boring and normal again. I think most people still want politics to be boring and normal, they just didn't show up.

Sure but it's absolutely insane to think that running to the center left (if you can even call it that lol) is going to work.

Notice how I didn't say that though. That was a mistake Democrats made and I mistake I myself made by enabling it and rationalizing it when it was irrational. It was one of the many mistakes I as a voter made this time.
