Already seeing Democrats in media talking about how divided our country is and it's like...no? The majority of Americans united to vote for him. This is a fact. This is our country. What needs to happen now is the party has to do some serious soul-searching. The Obama era is over and they've been acting like it isn't for 8 years now. If you can't even get your own voter base to show up for you that indicates a severe alienation with your own constituents. Republicans at least pivoted to fake populism to appease their own disaffected voters, and yet we still have party leaders bragging about Dick Cheney being against Trump. Like...what's not clicking 

 

I have hope that there will be some new blood that can energize the youth vote and is authentic to emerge in 2026 and gain enough momentum for a 2028 run. It just comes down to whether or not the party will embrace them or go down the Gavin Newsom route.

Imo, even the MAGA puppetmasters behind the scene are probably hoping that Trump dies, so Vance can take over. I'm really not sure him dying is a good outcome (politically). But for a feel good story, I guess it'd be funny to witness an awful, shitstain of a man kicking the bucket after getting the presidency.

They're protected in the states as well by that same argument. The argument that Trump's election is putting them at risk of being revoked which is not untrue about Europe with its own alt-right movement and archaic views on race (e.g., the Blackface marches in the Netherlands).

That's half of it. The other half is that people have this magical ability to only believe the things they like about him, while anything bad is fake news or lib fearmongering or whatever. 
 

Like getting rid of overtime pay is part of Project 2025. Nobody would have believed you if you tried to convince them Trump would try to do that if he won.

that's how i feel. all my colleagues were so shocked today, and as someone who has been following this closely, this was always an incredibly likely outcome. the 2016 shock isn't there.
