When did a Democrat do this?

ย

If this happened on Twitter, then I do not care about this example because a lot of stupid s*** happens on Twitter. Democrats made countless other mistakes for y'all to say things other people did on Twitter is the reason they're electoral failures.

It happens all the time outside of Twitter lol but sureย 5aa7e443f375f63e008b4569.thumb.webp.8375ย also notice how I said that isn't even close to being the sole reason why dems lost

How is the secret progressivism of the American electorate goingย when California votes down a minimum wage increase? This is wishful thinking about a fundamentally right wing swinging election year

The US seemed to be leaning progressive on lots of issues in the 2010sโ€ฆ

Other policies she could have run on:

  • Raising the minimum wage to $15-$20 an hour
  • Expanding Medicare to include people aged 55 and older
  • A wealth tax on billionaires like Elon Musk
  • Making the child tax credits permanent

These are simple and easy to run onโ€”they appeal to the left and to centrist voters because economic populism is popular. She also could have exhaustively talked about how she would lower the cost of tomatoes without mentioning Trump.ย

ย

She ran an entire campaign on "Trump is bad and we're not going back!" That was a blatantly bad strategy.

My god, i just can't stop thinking about Missourians have voted to raise the statewide minimum wage to $15 by 2026 and guarantee paid sick days to workers :jonny:

ย

Imagine if Kamala could've used at least one of these policies. ugh.

On immigration, yes. The economy is more complicated. Voters wants more progressive economic policy but at the same time they reject candidates that support it because they've been taught for so long that republicans are better for the economy, even though we've seen time and time again that they're not.ย

ย

It's a failure in messaging. We really need a candidate that articulates these points in a dumbed down manner that most Americans will understand. No more overeducated elites running the party for a while.

ย

I agree with this....I think it's less about the policies and more about the messaging. For too long, Democrats have let the Republicans run rampant with lies about Republicans being better for the economyย

the NY stats are not shocking at all

ย

let's focus on states that have results that are straight up bewilderingย

ย

It's not bewildering. Trump ran on the same promises and kept his same 2020 numbers nationally while the Dems ran to the right of 2020 and lost millions of their base. It's literally 2+2 math

I'm still shocked that he won. My family is going off on social media and rubbing it in. I'm being radio silent cause I know they're just waiting for my opinion and would get a kick out of a meltdown post but I'm not saying shite.

ย

All I can say is if LGBTQ lose our rights and especially if my marriage gets reversed, I will openly say that participated in that.ย

Europe is looking more and more intriguing as a place to relocate to.

You cannot claim it dropped by 15 million just because Harris ran a little bit more centrist than Joe Biden against the same candidate. It is an outlandish suggestion and yall know it when COVID is right there

This is just denying reality at this point. What investment to a neoliberal world order does someone whose not even American have...especially when it loses?

ย

The electoral composition is making it clear the electorate became whiter and richer.ย

ย

Harris ran an explicitly anti-left campaign that purposefully ignored the base. And the base....stayed home.ย

ย

What takeaway do you think people should make from the bold? Are you gonna join your fellow reactionaries and blame pronouns?

What I want to know is how Kamala underperformed with female voters after WEEKS of the media (and this thread) telling us how well she was doing. Did the women stay home? Or did they switch at the last minute? Or were the polls way off? (Looking at you Ann Selzer). Wtf happened?

Elissa Slotkin having the most narrow lead ever right now in Michigan with 9K votesย :deadbanana4:ย I fear we're not going to know who our Senator is for a while

Shocked at the number of Trump/Slotkin split tickets this implies thoughย :deadbanana4:ย Maybe from Muslims disgruntled with the Biden administration but not willing to go full R?

Feels important to remind people Harris wouldn't even commit publicly to a $15/hr minimum wage and whose main economic policy for wages ended up...being stolen from Trump.ย

You are battling Fox news and Elon's Twitter among others.ย  They repeat their talking points like a machine gun 24/7 and the smoothed brained will take it in.ย  They will regurgitate the brain washing but not even understand it.ย  It's what dictators do using State sources.ย  ย I expect more of this on an increasing level to try and hide what they will be doing.ย

ย

I'm not saying that the dems shouldn't go left next cycle, I'm saying it wouldn't have mattered in this cycle. I will be with yall in '28

The messenger makes the biggest difference in these elections. Hillary, Biden, and Kamala were terrible at messaging and it's had a ripple effect on the party.ย

ย

2024 was lost the the moment Biden announced he was seeking a second term. Not even democrats wanted it and by the time he dropped out, the race was effectively over. There was no time for Kamala to make up ground. Progressivism wouldn't have worked this cycle because there was no primary to discuss the issues.ย

Then why are you blaming the "woke movement" for Kamala's loss when she didn't participate in that at all or even use the word "woke"? It's starting to sound like a scapegoat babe.

The next Democratic primary will basically decide whether the party survives. I hope we know what we're doing by then, because if the last several cycles are anything to go byโ€ฆย :celestial5:
