People simply chose the economy, their own pockets and own self interest over everything else when casting their votes. Governments around the world that handled Covid and its fallout were blamed for those problems and voted out for the same reason. In America's case though, they just cut their nose off to spite their face, e.g. these latinos who voted for Trump in droves are delusional enough to believe they won't be swept up in whatever immigration/deportation efforts are carried out. But it shows that Trump's cult of personality is untouchable, and once he's done, the republicans are going to have to scramble to find a replacement, because these politicians won't have the same bravado. There is no chance in hell JD Vance will be able to ride Trump's coattails to his own victory (assuming he's still even alive then) 2

For all we have argued as to whether the far left would hurt Dems it literally didn't matter at all because Trump won by WAY over performing with women and minorities while quite literally slam dunking men. I don't want to blame women and minorities when white men are clearly the bigger problem, but his performance there clearly begs the question: where do Democrats go from here? And the answer is certainly not that they didn't go left enough. Kamala's campaign was clearly right about that. Very, very depressing. 1

Gary Peters probably loses given how Michigan is going today. Other vulnerable Dems include Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Tina Smith (MN), and Mark Warner (VA) - which depends how vindictive Democrats are over him "railroading Joe Biden" They all ran well in 2020, but the environment has changed a lot since then, so I don't think any Dem senators I've listed are safe. Especially if apathy and despair sets in like I think it will. I think there will be a more defeatist response to Trump this time, especially since he's winning the popular vote and has a very clear mandate.
