The type of person who is willing to sit down with a pollster is not representative of the average voter. ย The death of polling really just comes down to the fact that people don't answer their phones anymore, and I don't know if a true replacement for that will ever be found. Landline-only pollsters used to be considered the "gold standard" of polling, but they're so difficult to do (let alone doย accurately) nowadays. And so far nobody's really been able to figure out how to make a really high quality online poll. So yeah, we're probably stuck with this problem for the foreseeable future. 3
eyeroll Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Okay yeah, she exceeded my expectations in that interview. I'm baffled she was able to maintain a coherent and serious delivery while being forced to hold eye contact with someone who is so facially compromised. It's already cruel having to entertain questions from FOX, but enduring an optical hazard like Bret Baier on top of it is a special kind of torture.ย 13
RihRihGirrrl Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Ok I'm pleseantly surprised....Kamala proved to be very good in enemy territory. I think the strongest response was the 'enemy from within' back and forth and her calling out Brett/FOX News for playing the wrong clip of Trump 12

It's a mixed response as everything in this country is. Those who liked her, still like her, those who don't, still don't.ย ย The purpose of this interview is just to capitalize on the fact that she wasn't against go into unfriendly territory, and as usual she'll be held to higher standards than her opponent. Nothing new, nothing changed, same old story. There's so few undecideds for a reason. I like that she was a bit confrontational in that clip. Not mean, but stood her ground. ย I really hate the division though because it's so dishonest. Imagine not being able to say that you like what she said just because she's Democratic, on the "other side" than the average Fox News viewer.

RihRihGirrrl Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I think Kamala is very good at showing strength and and empathy simultaneously 11
DR0GO Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I see she cleaned up her "how are you and Biden different" response up a bit. She's taking notes.ย ย She needs to work on her "but Trump" answer to why she did or didn't do things as a VP.ย ย For what it's worth, I saw some comments from some Independents (not sure if they're undecided or not) that said they were impressed by how "strong" she came across.ย 7

Harrier Posted October 17 Posted October 17 One thing Kamala has consistently done well in this campaign is demonstrating strength. I prefer compassionate/empathetic style leadership ala Jacinda Ardern, but for the American electorate this is definitely the right approach. The content of her answers in the Fox interview was not always great, but optically it was excellent. She looked tough and ready to take Brett on. 7
CamCam Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) One thing I have to give Kamala is that she won't let anyone disrespect her, so her doing the FOX interview should be seen as a plus. Bret the entire interview didn't even bother to let her fully respond to the questionsย heย asked, yet felt no issue to speak over her almost the entire time. At the very least, her doing this interview & showing she had the guts to even go on a conservative network helps to solidify her remarks about being " for every American" despite differing political opinions, even if it's for optics. If anything, I truly hope that more people realize that interviewers need to learn that if you want answers from the person in the hot seat, you let. them. speak. If they're wrong, THEN you clarify/fact-check them after their response. Edited October 17 by CamCam 9
Popular Post thedeathbymusic Posted October 17 Popular Post Posted October 17 You can have your opinions on what she said or how she said it, but the fact that she was unafraid to go onto FOX and do all she can to reach all American people is something nobody can take away from her. THAT is why this was a win and what people will remember and respect when they head to the voting booth.ย 15 2
Corso Posted October 17 Posted October 17 She seemed kind of angry and defensive on Fox. She gave some decent answers but not great answers. ย I think she has lost her lead because of negative ads that make her seem too left wing, and you can tell her campaign is sort of... worried. Meanwhile Trump is dancing. 2 1

Acuminatus Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) I think the interview was the right choice. The narrative earlier was about how Harris was dodging interviews and what not, now it is slowly changing to Harris being this strong willed person who is willing to go into enemy territory while Trump is running scared. The answers may not be perfect but it's not like Trump supporters care much about policy. The MAGAbots on Twitter obviously say that she did badly, but they were going to say that regardless. ย It's probably not going to change too many minds, but even if we get a handful of votes it is a success. Her polling lead is still clearly intact and I don't think anyone is impressed by Donald shutting down a town hall early to "sway and bop," as the headlines say, for 39 minutes. His mind is fracturing in front of our eyes - if it weren't for the heinous things he and his party want to do to our country, it would honestly be kind of pathetic. 2
