shelven Posted October 16 Posted October 16 The Fox News poll ย Desperately need her to lose the popular vote but win the electoral college because (other than it being the funniest possible outcome) it will get Republicans to turn on the electoral college and that 270 pact might actually go into effect.ย 8

dman4life Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I agree with the notion that she's at her best when she's in an unfriendly setting. I personallyย didn't care for all of her "but Trump" answers but had to remember that this is Fox news and I doubt they've ever told their audience anything truthful about Trump so yeah it could be slightly effective. ย I know one thing I'm sick to death of polls! There's definitely gonna be another big polling miss this cycle but the question is to whose benefit?ย 4

FameFatale Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Fox News interview was okay. I think she held her own with what she was given.ย 1
Tovitov Posted October 16 Posted October 16 We'll find out in a matter of weeks if polling is truly broken, but for now, I have zero faith in it. ย Marquette had RFK Jr. at 9% nationally. ย Quinnipiac had GA and NC diverging by unbelievable amounts. ย Fox News has Trump losing battleground states by 6 points but winning nationally by 2. Not to mention the absurd crosstabs.ย ย Whatever happens happens, but it does genuinely feel like we're watching the final gasps of a dying polling industry.ย ย ย 12

Every pollster is afraid of being off again, so they're all changing their methodologies drastically. Some are weighting by 2020 recalled vote, some aren't, some are weighting by party identification, some aren't, etc. Every poll is using a different methodology and it really doesn't make sense to aggregate them together and try to come up with an average. Probably the only useful thing we can glean from them is how they're shifting compared to previous polls from the same pollster. 2 1

Polling will always be broken now until they can sit people down and poll them in person (good luck!).ย ย If by some miracle they're right this time, it'll just be a fluke. It's far too difficult to poll with accuracy now, all you can hope for is precision to form some kind of narrative, but the precision narratives don't matter when it comes to the results. People stopped trusting them post-2016 which already hurt their failing numbers, now they're fighting a battle they already lost. Edited October 16 by Relampago. 1 2
