As a Palestinian American, I lose either way. If Kamala loses, yes I'm going to gloat and laugh about how she loses what could have possibly been the easiest winnable election ever had she just not run the horrible campaign she is currently running. Cry more about it babes! As a Palestinian American, it obviously makes sense why you wouldn't want to vote for either party, but being gleeful about the prospect of a genocide of immigrants and trans people in this country just makes you a hypocrite. Why do we have to care about you and your family being genocided when you clearly wouldn't care about us in our families being genocided? It's giving "genocide for thee, but not for me". ย This kind of hypocritical, no-self-reflection thinking is exactly why you guys will never get what you want Electorally.ย 5 4

I don't belong to a party lmao. ย Literally everything you said applies the other way around. "Why do we have to care about you and your family being genocided when you clearly wouldn't care about us in our families being genocided?" is the exact same question I could be asking you folks, no? So it seems we are at standstill. The only difference is morally, I decided to vote outside the two party system for a candidate who doesn't support a genocide or throwing under the bus of any people or group. But voting for Kamala is not doing that. It is still throwing one group under the bus and practically saying "sorry for you and your family but y'all need to be content with possibly being wiped off the planet" to protect democracy. That's why, to me, I don't really ******* care who wins. I know we've had disagreements in the past and we've also had mature conversations but I've never said and never will be gleeful about "the prospect of a genocide of immagrants and trans people". That is a nasty accusation. I WILL be gleeful about the loss of a candidate (whether Trump or Kamala) who don't care if my family in the West Bank is raided by Israeli settlers and taken hostage or if they are burned alive with a US funded bomb. Honestly wish they would both be a-worded before the election!ย 6

Thank you all for keeping me informed!), but I do feel like you need to recognize that there's a difference between theย actualย genocide happening right now and funded by our tax dollars and the theoretical genocide you keep referring to if Trump comes to power. As a non-citizen in the US, I'm terrifiedโand I don't have a vote (but they love my tax dollars!). But weย needย critiques like those that Communionย and ZeroSuitBritney offer, and we need a genuine progressive leftist movement to continue pushing for real change that the two major parties simply aren't offering, even if it seems electorally ineffective.ย ย I lean towards the harm reduction view, so if I had a vote, I'd probably cast it for Kamala and would have to grapple with what that means morally. But that's not everybody's philosophy, and I respect that many see voting as an ethical-symbolic act. And silencing the left doesn't get us anywhere except further into the neoliberal death spiral we're in. They're honestly the only check on the political parties we have, and yeah, it might not look like they're contributing positively to getting Kamala elected, which I can agree isย my preferenceย of the realistic options (otherwise, here for President De la Cruz), but leftists are so necessary precisely because they show us what the current political system (which dominates all of our consciousness and thinking) is missing, and what it can't or won't do. Most of the goals of the left will remain on the horizon, but they need to be kept in sight. ย So while I love lurking here, reading the news and the takes, etc... it's so exhausting to see the same argument about leftists tacitly contributing to the rise of Trump, because that's just... not true or in good faith. In short: we need the left, and we need people who hold Dems accountable, even if it's hard to hear or feelsย unproductive to you in this moment of seriously heightened stakes. In the grand scheme of things, I see it as incredibly productive, because it shifts the locus of what we talk about, what we find reasonable, and what is within the realm of imagination. 12

FameFatale Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I just saw a MAGA girl's tiktok who went to the townhall last night and even she said the vibes were off because people kept getting sick and passing out because it was so hot in the building because apparently the AC wasn't working. She blamed the AC being turned off on the democrat deep state ย She said she was really worried about the people who passed out because they didn't look well and that's the reason he stopped answering question and played music for them. Just weird vibes all around 1 4
Vermillion Posted October 15 Posted October 15 4 minutes ago, Temporal said: What is actually happening here? Does his team think he's far enough ahead that he doesn't need to risk his position anymore? Sigh. It depends on who you ask, both of what pundits think his team is thinking and what his team is actually thinking. I can't stand framing everything through internal polling at this point because it's not picking up shy Kamala voters via Dobbs or other motivations for the tens of millions that don't normally vote for anyone or anything, candidate or referendum, etc. ย Sidebar to all of this is unpacking why the recent Republican internals were leaked. ย Averages, if we're going to use them, have them within the margin of error. The common wisdom among political observers is Kamala's going to flood the zone despite the risks and Trump's hoping his combination of dodging and drawing focus to some of Kamala's poorer interviews (i.e. Oprah) blur expectations and comparisons.
