Sis, I thought you were a dupe but this convinced me otherwise because you apparently don't know expressing annoyance just vindicates me and keeps me going.

Like yes you should be made to feel annoyed and uncomfortable and forcefully confronted when this is what you're supporting:

...we're now demonizing undocumented migrants having IDs? Really? An undocumented child deserves to be denied medical care? That's now what Harris is advocating for? Insane.

Can you stop with the random "you're a dupe" as a comeback? :rip:

The biggest danger of a Trump win is that it completely upend any expectation of truth....we are already in the age of AI where it's easy to manipulate what is real and what you 'see' with your own eyes. The fact that we have someone in the highest office leading a whole political movement who's going to take his blueprint of lies as the standard of truth is scary.....forget left, right, progessive, ect....a Trump win means flat out lies and disinformation become the new normal. I'm not even sure how Democrats compete in that climate, post a Trump 2nd term.

What's with all the doom and obituaries on here?

This race is not over. Not even close. It's a pure tossup. Is it nerve wrecking not going in with a clear favorite (every election since 2000 had one, let's be real. Only trumps win was a true shocker)? Absolutely.

But this race has been and will remain, a tossup.

I wonder if her team saw her polls slipping and changed strategy and that's why she's suddenly doing all this media

I think the issue is - and I get it's not really helpful for some of you feeling anxious - is that the cause for these different reactions in what is essentially a giant game of chicken is that..... there's a very unique experience to know Hillary Clinton wad a dog **** candidate, be told she had the better chance, and then... her dumb ass loses jklnkjn.

This isn't to say life under Trump would be great. Of course not. It wasn't greater from 2016-2020 either. But clicking my heels three times already didn't do anything.

How do I say it politely...

To support Clinton, believe her philosophy was right, and support her earnestly, only to see her lose... is just being let down by one's own naivety.

To know Clinton was the wrong candidate, be gaslighted over what you saw, and to see her lose for the very reasons you saw... is blackpilling.

And that blackpilling causes someone to establish a reasonable distance between themselves and thinking any of us as individual have any meaningful impact on voting that we have to lie to ourselves and hype ourselves up with almost corporate-slanted jargon - be the team player, be the good employee, trust the mission, etc. This isn't Peter Pan. Democrats are not Tinkerbell. No amount of clapping we can do is going to increase Harris' chances of winning.

All you can do as a voter is go: "I think this is important, I want this." And if the closest candidate to you says "**** you, die".. oh well. Got no one to vote for then.

But then if that person loses... clearly they wanted to lose. If Kamala Harris loses in a month, it's going to be because she wanted to lose. I can't change that.

I earnestly believed I was wrong in 2016. I earnestly believed "no, they were right, we must trust the process, trust the mission."... and that evil dumb ***** still lost!!!

I mean all this is… true but how relevant is it? Clinton was an awful candidate, I don't think anyone besides the hardest of hardcore liberals can say that. But Harris, for all her misgivings, is not Clinton.

And yeah, Harris is not running on policy that's popular. But she is not actively campaigning against the policies which progressives find useful. Republicans would sooner hit the big red button to nuke Chicago, LA and NYC than stand by while things like M4A, UBI, national rent control, etc get passed. I just.. truly do not see Democrats having that same level of opposition to these ideas. I see a path forward within that party.

And truthfully a lot of that is because I have very, very little faith in the 3rd parties as well. Jill Stein is a failure. She is fighting an uphill battle against powerful entities, but has made no improvements to her messaging or her party's ability to build a winning coalition. She has great policy but chooses to use one as a beating stick without nuance to try and campaign. But people rarely respond to this type of messaging (hence why anti-Trump advertisements are failing as well). Hell, RFK polled above Stein consistently and still aligned with a party to show some type of willingness to build a coalition. He's a ****ing idiot so that says a lot about what Stein is pulling.

And yes, a lot of these criticisms can be targeted at Harris as well, but Harris actually has a chance to win an election. I hate that criticism, but in the vein of not voting for something that isn't offered to me, it's not really all that different from promising something you can't deliver, or even attempt to deliver. I could promise you a billion dollars but if I have no way to actually get that billion dollars to you.. why would you believe in me?

I simply wish 3rd parties were a more viable option but they are also self defeating. Stein is not infallible and I feel she is much more likely to sway based on pressure, but I don't even see that pressure being applied by Green Party voters. They compromise with her despite knowing she can do better, and be better. And I don't see how that's much different from what's happening with the Democratic Party. It all feels hypocritical, so I choose to throw my weight behind something that can have tangible, even if small, results. Because clearly there's no perfect answer, so it makes sense to target the one that allows me to reach the goals and values I have in the long run, even if there aren't immediate results.

EDIT: I also want to be clear, I think that 3rd party voters in solid red or blue states are justified. I think those who aren't are justified as well. But I think there is much more nuance to it than: "Draw a line in the sand! Wave the wand and your wishes will be granted!" There are many people who will need convincing in the post-Trump era, and Stein does NOT seem equipped to do so.

I think this may have been their strategy....they're about to unleash some of her strongest surrogates on the trail...Obamas/Clinton, Shapiro in PA so they probably think it's the right time to have Kamala/Tim do more media for wider reach and lean more on surrogates for the stump

Agreed. I hope and think we will see a big ramp up of campaign activity

It seems silly but lowkey AOC playing League of Legends is how I found out about her back in 2018, and from then on went deeper into politics.

Kinda need to do a raid with Timmy ASAP.

Honestly I love when they meet the gamer crowd. A lot of gamers are a.) Disillusioned with voting and b.) Young impressionable men. I'd rather they see someone like AOC and Walz than Trump right wing grifters. They need to appeal more to young men!

I feel like the polls are just not reliable at this point....they're too all over the place. I belive it'll be a close race and just hoping that Kamala's ground game makes the difference.
