shelven Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Her trying to come across as BFFs with Republicans at least has a strategic theory behind it. It's morally abhorrent and I'm not even sure I fully buy the strategic theory, but at least there is one. Her continuing to explicitly refuse to distinguish herself from Biden in any meaningful way has no strategic theory and is unambigously a repeated unforced error. She's doing it because she feels bad being mean to grandpa Joe and doesn't want to look "disloyal" to him. It's a purely emotional/personal choice that is terrible for electoral strategy given how bad Biden's job approval rating is. It comes back to what I said back when people wrongfully thought it was a plausible strategy to keep trying to factually push back on the "Biden's too old to run again" claims: you have to meet voters where they actually are, not where you think they should be. And voters largely think Biden's a bad president. You're not going to magically convince them otherwise with 30 days to go until the election. So you either have to accept that reality and act on it - in this case, by distancing yourself from Biden's presidency - or you can keep denying it and make repeated unforced errors all to spare some old man's feelings. 3 1
