I know she canceled some events when Hurricane Helene hit to be able to help with that effort. I wonder if she'll be canceling more things this week since Hurricane Milton looks pretty bad and is supposed to hit Thursday/Friday.

That's how long it's been since a storm with that low of a pressure. The one thing Rita and Wilma have in common is that they both weakened a bit before making landfall in the US, which is what Milton is expected to do as well (unlike Helene which strengthened all the way to landfall). However, it's still going to be a bad storm. It's wind field will increase as it weakens and it will still have a ton of storm surge banked up during this time as a Category 5. Everyone in Florida needs to take it seriously and evacuate, and both the US and state governments need to take it seriously too. 3 1
