Sister, I know you PM'd me and said you joined ATRL cause "you were friends with some of the mods and wanted to discuss politics" when ensuring you were not a dupe (giving Kassi vibes but different), but referring to reporting by the Financial Times as "a random website" is... what?ย ย If Kamala Harris was committed to keeping Lina Khan as the head of the FTC, why hasn't she publicly made this a commitment to encourage people to vote for her?

I only had a couple of doors slammed in my face and only one person yelled at me. Everyone else was either already planning to vote for Kamala, didn't know they didn't have to mail in their ballot but could just drop it off at a polling location or vote early, or they had heard good things about Kamala's policies but didn't believe they were real (down payment assistance, child tax credit, etc.)ย ย Surprisinglyโฆ most people were actually most concerned with Trump himself. They didn't know too much about Kamala, but leaned towards her because they felt Trump wasn't worth the risk of voting for. I heard a lot of "Even if Kamala is bad at least she isn't preaching hate, I'm tired of the hateful comments more than anything" and "There used to not be a big difference between two candidates but now the Republicans are too crazy for me to feel safe, I never thought it could get this bad".ย ย Not a lot of concern about immigration, which isn't that surprising. It was South Phoenix, so a lot of Latino families who probably don't notice a difference at all because there isn't any. People were more concerned about people flooding in from California and making things more expensive because of that, which I got to bring up Kamala's plan to build more housing so that the housing supply can go up and bring down costs. ย Overall, it made me more hopeful for Kamala's campaign here. I expected a lot more vitriol, and we WERE canvassing in a fairly blue area with low-propensity voters, but I expected way more "I hate politics bye!" instead it was just a lot of people lacking info and being too busy or out of the loop to try and figure out what was going on or how they'd vote. Also worth noting I was talking to mostly women, so that might be a factor too. This is great thank you for doing the hard work. ย I hope to hear more stories 4

ClashAndBurn Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Kamala's been signaling for a long time now that she's open to firing Lina Khan and replacing her with someone friendlier to big business interests. One of her campaign's biggest goals has been to try and end the stigma that Democrats are hostile to corporations. Likeโฆ we've known this since before Walz was even brought in as her running mate ย 1 1

Blankspace2010 Posted October 5 Posted October 5 (edited) ATRL is great for the casual voter. The people on twitter calling her Holocaust Harris are the kind of radical equivalent you're looking for (I don't resent them for their anger). ย As a proud M4A, free college, Green New Deal, etc supporter and a deep blue queer suburbanite historical Dem voter, I'm actually the true median of the Democratic base. ย ย Most of my critics are red state moderate "Dems" (the amount of Floridians posting... dddd!) and while I'm more than willing to open the door to the party for them and let them into the coalition, the recent treatment of Chappell Roan makes putting the "oh?? you just got into politics and thought Romney was okay and decent cause your Republican dad was voting for him in 2012???" shoe on the other foot a bit fun.ย ย ย Can't out-VBNMW a Deep Blue *****.ย ย Edited October 6 by Communion 1 4
