More convos with my dad and yeah no shot he votes for Kamala. He and a lot of other independents I know who dislike both parties have already told themselves for years that Trump and Republicans are better on the economy and border and there's no changing their minds on that. Best I can hope for is he just abstains from voting like he did in 2016. 2020 he voted for Trump because he was super anti Covid restrictions and anti-vax

He thinks Trump is a dirtbag whose wife doesn't even like him and also thinks Republicans need to get with the times on diversity and just drop the issue of abortion already regardless of how they personally feel about it, but like most other consumers of right wing media he's bought into the idea that America is in danger of becoming high tax, homeless hellscape Commiefornia and burning to the ground I'm afraid

Sigh tbf the economy has always been the thorn on the Dems' side this election. Hopefully the better econ numbers posted above and sharper messaging about the economy (a need) can turn things around.

I think Kamala gradually gaining ground on the economy in polling is a result of voters tuning in and realizing Trump's economic policies are dreadful rather than people suddenly feeling more optimistic about the economy. Regardless all the positive economic news the past few weeks definitely can't hurt :clap3:ย

ย

Kamalanomics is working :jonny5:

If Kamala wins then I wonder what happens in 2028.

ย

Does she yet again automatically get the nomination because she's the incumbent despite never winning a primary? That would be very messy.ย

I would love a poll of how many votes Kamala won when Dick Cheney endorsed her :dies:ย People acting like it was a huge deal are delusional and just want to justify Kamala's constant appeals to the right.

ย

Putin endorsed Kamala too. Should she have platformed that? Where do we draw the line?

ย

I'm actually surprised no one has brought up Bernie taking Joe Rogan's endorsement, but I remember people feigning disgust at that. What's different now? That was nowhere near as bad as thanking Dick Cheney.

ย

When Trump endorses Shapiro in 2032 to spite Ron DeSanctimonious and the girls in this thread start popping champagne, I will lose my mind :dies:ย

I actually agree that I don't think it's a big deal, but it's not a big deal either which way. And at the least she gets some conservative support.ย
ย

again, if I was running a campaign and someone with a lot of prior history in our government endorsed me (or with a big audience) I'd accept it and even platform it. I wanna win girlโ€ฆ

ย

And let's not compare Liz Chaney to Putin pls, and Putin "endorsed" her because it was a political move on his part to make her seem like some evil socialist dictator, we all know Putin wants trump to win.ย

Although a lot of people (rightly) hate Cheney, it still is a pretty significant endorsement for the former Vice President to come out in support of the other party's candidate.

You can bet if Al Gore endorsed Trump he would be trumpeting it all over the place.

Basically what I am saying, like, what's not clicking

I think the issue Democrats face is if Trump wins he's probably not going to be able to do most of the scary things they've been fearmongering about and I worry that will make their cries about democracy literally ending look like the boy who cried wolf. That's not me downplaying the threat of Trump and I'm not saying these warnings are unfounded, but Democrats are likely to retain the House and be just under a majority in the Senate so no chance anything even adjacent to Project 2025 gets passed (likely just more boring tax cuts and a border bill that most Democrats will be forced to support because it would spell electoral doom for swing district Democrats who don't). And with the economy slowly improving anyway (and omg the border finally fixed! *sarcasm*) people will be able to say "See! Wasn't that worth the mean tweets? He didn't do any of the horrible things liberals claimed he would do!" In fact, economic sentiment will probably instantly improve as soon as he takes office before he even does anything because swing voters are just haters and want change. :rip:ย That said, while something like mass deportation is super popular now, if that were actually put into effect, it would become super unpopular within a day. Most people are just fickle and don't know what they want until the consequences are right in front of them.

ย

Additionally, even if Trump did have the power to sign a national abortion ban or destroy Social Security or anything like that, I don't think he would. And I think people who believe those things fundamentally misunderstand Trump. Yes, Trump appointed the justices who overturned Roe, but contrary to what most people believe I don't think he appointed themย specificallyย to overturn Roe. I think he wanted to appoint as conservative of justices as he could find because that's what his base was wanting. At the same time, the Supreme Court overturning Roe could still be perceived as their doing, with some distance from Trump himself. I do believe Trump is super conservative but I don't think he's committed to far right principles at the EXPENSE of his image, as opposed to a true ideologue like JD Vance. I think at the end of the day Trump only cares about himself and just wants to be beloved. And if the audience stops cheering, then what?

The worst part was watching this lunacy while seeing a split screen tracking all of the Covid deaths in real time.....I will never understand why anyone would want to be subjected to him in office againย

People at work talking about how the Hurricane was created by Biden so he could seize land for lithium.

ย

How do you talk to these people? How do you get through to them? I really don't think you can. The only way to stop this is to make sure Trump doesn't win and then goes to jail. My God, these people whom I've always viewed as really intelligent, are so ******* brainwashed.

You just gotta call these people stupid to their face. Or in a work setting where HR could get involved :rip:ย just heavily insinuate it.

ย

"You believe the government...controls the weather?"

ย

It's different from calling someone stupid just because they're voting Trump but actually make these people double down on their beliefs.

I was like, "you think the government needs a hurricane to take peoples' land? They can do that with Eminent domain if natural resources are involved."

They moved on from that subject lol.

This is a good poll for Harris no doubt but I'm skeptical about just *how* good it is for her only because

ย

1. The undecideds/others are quite large.ย
According to the article "None Of These Candidates" (yes a real option in NV not just a question on a poll) is getting 4% which I doubt will be that large. In 2016 in NV that option got 2.5% and in 2020 it got 1%. It will almost certainly fall in between 1-2.5% in 2024.

ย

2. It was conducted like a week after the first debate.

Didn't you hear the good sis Commie said she'd abandon her morals and principles and throw the Palestinians under the bus bc Biden might take 20k off their student loans so is now voting Harris.?!

ย

Now THAT is as American as apple pie. Lmao.

No, I hadn't seen that because I've muted them and their off-topic, bad-faith arguments, but this is totally not surprising and even refreshing in a mask-off type of way. "I really, really care about Palestinians so bad that I have spent the last year attacking Democrats... but I'll vote Democrat if you give me money." Obsessed. If all it takes is some money to get leftists to admit to their hypocrisy, we need to call up the good sis George Soros NOW.

Not y'all proving that it was never about getting votes for Kamala, it was about "gotchas!"

ย

We're all mostly on the same side here but the way our catty gay natures take precedent over any type of politics, kii
