Marianah Adkins Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Walz held on his own. I do feel that I think Walz should have clocked Vance on agreeing in so many things with him because its giving closet Democrat (with racism)
Communion Posted October 2 Posted October 2 1 minute ago, Bamboo said: Why are y'all acting like Walz bombed Tim's favorables are strong enough that the point of the debate wasn't really about him. The only stake would be ensuring Vance's approvals stay as low as they are, and in that context, Walz would have bombed given how Vance navigated. Β But low stakes overall. Shame that Harris won't respond to how the highlights of Walz's debate will be when he spoke progressively and saw how unnatural she causes him to be by having to defend bad foreign policy!Β 1
Devin Posted October 2 Posted October 2 walz biggest flop was misspeaking on chillin w/ the school shooters. 2
Harrier Posted October 2 Posted October 2 7 minutes ago, Bamboo said: Why are y'all acting like Walz bombedΒ Β I'm like are we watching the same debate?Β Β He didn't bomb if you're a normal person but we are trying to look at it from the perspective of A) the very reactionary 2024 electorateΒ B) the mainstream media, which is at this point desperate for a narrative shift away from 'Kamala is doing everything right' Β From these POVs there are issues with Walz' performance that Kamala mostly avoided. I agree with the overall idea that it wasn't a disaster tho it should be fine

Wonderland Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I think Walz's problem was how much he couldn't rebut points on the spot. He did well at the end going after him not saying Trump lost the election; but he needed to do that more during the whole debate - especially when Vance was saying Trump saved the ACA Β 1

Rotunda Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Feels like mostly a wash. Β Vance probably bumped his favorability a couple points by seeming mostly human, while flopping some important questions. Β Β Walz flopped in terms of delivery but didn't mess up on anything folks will remember. And he was good on Dems' strongest issues.Β Β Vance was throwing out policies in rapid fire and Walz was jumbling through answers to the point where I don't think anyone will remember either of their takes on anything aside from abortion, democracy and the border.Β Β Both alsoβ¦agreed with each other to the point where you'd be hard to parse out whose more tepid answers belong to who.Β Edited October 2 by Rotunda 5

nadiamendell Posted October 2 Posted October 2 I think the biggest sound bites of the night will be when Walz confronted Vance about the 2020 election and when Vance complained about being fact checked.Β Β Otherwise the debate was meh.Β 4

shelven Posted October 2 Posted October 2 The way I'm chronically online and even I have no desire to see what I missed with the VP debate should be proof enough that not a single undecided voter will care about this debate. 14
CamCam Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Nothing about Walz's performance tonight was him bombing it. A gaffe or two aside, not only did he speak with such empathy & charisma that it made delivering his messages & responses more impactful, but he provided much more accurate rebuttals & proven information than the other guy. Vance's seemingly polished nature was moot as he not only spewed numerous lies, but even showed, on multiple instances, both deception & insensitivity.Β Β People will try to spin this as Vance being strong because he was on the offense, but all in all, Walz won on not only being relatable & being experienced, but also being sure to put the American people first. cloudbusting Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Vance didn't pull a Budd Dwyer so I found it personally disappointing, but Walz did a nice job overallΒ
