Part of the shift to the right by Latinos really is economic reasons especially for those who have already become legal citizens. Its easy to frame it as wanting to throw their fellow immigrants under the bus but its more of wanting to find legitimate opportunities once they make it as a citizen legally (remember they went to America for the "American Dream") and quite frankly the Democrats have not been offering any economic platforms for them (they do have them but the leadership doesn't want to push them for some reason).

I like how stating the truth, that Kamala Harris has promised literally nothing different than the full support of genocide that Biden has been pushing for just a week shy of an entire year, is "anti-Harris/Biden"

 

You can vote to support genocide and the mass killing of Arabs all you like. Truly. No one's stopping you. Just don't lie to other people that their vote actually makes a difference on Israel-Palestine, because it doesn't. Focus on fearmongering about the Supreme Court and Project 2025 instead, because that's all voting Democrat is for. Stopping things from getting worse, because making things better is too hard for them to ever achieve, nor would they ever want to.

These polls were also all conducted pre Debate.

Your party is campaigning on fear and making people afraid of what Republicans can and will do. Because that is genuinely all there is to run on. And that's fine, just be honest about it. There is no codifying Roe. The only options are a national ban or the new status quo where abortion access is geographically dependent. That is never changing, because there will never be enough Democrats in the Senate who support filibuster reform. Even if there were to be a path for Democrats to ever regain 50 senators after this year, the Rhode Island guy said no.

 

The only realistic policy outcome that she's currently campaigning on is toughening border security because people are afraid of immigrants (of color) and Democrats did nothing to alleviate people's fears. They bought into Republicans' framing and deemed far right immigration was necessary for political survival.

If we're going to believe the massive rightward shift of Latinos (which is very possible) and doom about it we have to look at all trends we're seeing.

 

Harris will likely improve upon trends that Biden saw himself improve upon Clinton. White voters and seniors.

 

A CNN article I read today noted how you don't want to be losing votes anywhere, like Harris is with Latinos, but if you had to compare trends, you'd much rather be Harris with a higher share of the white and senior vote than Joe than Trump with a higher Latino vote share than he had against Biden. The fact is those groups are just a larger part of the electorate and are more likely to vote. That combo wins the rust belt with a minimum of 270 votes. Unless NV/AZ decide the election because one of the rust belt states fell through and GA/NC vote red.

 

But even then, maybe this is massive cope on my end, but I do think its possible that rightward Latino shift isn't as pronounced in swing states than it is nationally due to ground game, campaigning, and ads.
