Exactly - even adjusted for inflation, tuition costs have skyrocketed since Biden went to college. $10k is as little as 2 months of tuition in some non-Ivy undergraduate universities

Biden is

In fairness, he looked better in the white uniform his team sent around last time. I wish this would be his Dukakis moment but it won't.

I’m curious to know what what’s gonna happen to all the people that paid down some amounts during the student loan freeze. I stupidly paid off 8K of student loans (wiping out basically 3/4 off my savings account) back in end of April bc I thought Joe Biden wasn’t gonna extend again and I wanted to cash in on the no interest :rip:

If this 10k forgiveness is enacted I want that money back UGH

Nothing. We just gotta take the L.

Granted I paid mine off ($6k) in 2018 in my first year out of college by living with family for about 6 months, and then foregoing furniture for another 6 months when I moved into my own place. It was literally just me, my cat, and our beds. :gaycat6:

But even it being 4 years out, it does feel unfair. That said, I’m trying to look at the upside with my brother’s ~20k in debt being reduced. I’m just not happy that my sister won’t benefit the same if forgiveness happens before May 2024, that why we need a long term solution.

This is explains why one of my crazy coworkers this morning was talking about “Biden has been destroying farms to sneak chemicals into homegrown food that’s making kids think they’re gay” :deadbanana: I told her she was crazy and that’s not a thing but she said she saw it on the news. Makes sense now that she watched it on Tucker. :rip: He truly is trash. So many people believe he is actual news.

@BlondGutsMaybe, to get our money back, we can ride the inevitable meme stock wave that’s to follow once a whole bunch of 20-somethings no longer have student debt payments to make :gaycat3:

It’s giving pandemic $2k checks x 5. Just gotta get in early. :eli:

Speaking of Fox News. I had to help my grandpa at his house yesterday and he keeps Fox News on 24/7 and something I noticed is during one segment they talked about TX Governor Abbott sending busses of immigrants at the border to DC. They praised his decision basically with the undertone of "owning the libs" and "showing them the mess they made in DC." ...etc. Then literally an hour later on a new show and new segment they started with saying "Why are so many illegal immigrants receiving free cell phones and health care in DC and NY??" :deadbanana: Like these right wing shows make zero sense. It's crazy cause so many people watch these shows and eat every word the hosts say when it's like 80% opinion.

There was a lengthy Twitter thread I already posted making I think 2014 comparisons with a turn back to the Republicans last minute.

But on the flip-side there are a ton of asterisks I already brought up weeks ago about data showing Roe cancelling out inflation so I don't know.

Still sticking with my prediction that Dems hold the Senate by 1 seat or two and lose the House by close to 10-15 seats, minimum.

Although if Dems lose both by a landslide I wouldn't be surprised either.

How unsurprising that Biden opts to help as few people as possible with CRUMBS that will get overtaken by interest anyway, and the uber-wealthy neolibs still complain about it being an unfair giveaway :ahh:

Oh god, here we go.

After reading the fine print that's out there so far if this is a base play for November turnout it's so insulting to so many I don't even see it lasting until then.

In fact, long-term for 2024 I could see it backfiring with that base and even those that wouldn't have turned out to vote anyways.

Conservative backlash and further depressed base. BUT the wild-card remains Roe.

Whether Roe can cancel out inflation AND piss-poor student loan help backfiring is a tall order.
