Omg. $10k cancellation would change so many lives.ย :jonny5:

That $10k will get completely wiped out by interest, especially thanks to Bidenโ€™s Fed hiking up the interest rates. And the neolibs will still whine about it being a giveaway to the rich (when they said not a single word about the fiasco surrounding PPP).

ย

Biden will pretend he actually did something, his simps like the ones in this very thread will clap like seals, and Republicans will still weaponize it in their attack ads like they would if he canceled $50k or all of it.

ย

And itโ€™s means-tested too, which makes it even more pathetic.

It would leave nearly three-fourths of all borrowers in debt. You don't have to lie and insult us who actually are impacted.

Exactly. In the awful Pete Buttigieg's words, "Republicans will call us socialists no matter what" - even if Biden gives ZERO dollars in debt relief. Thus, might as well go balls-to-the-wall

Racist neolibs only care about white lives, wbk :rip:. No wonder they don't want to go above $10k

It's just literally political malpractice to opt-for relieving a sliver of borrowers from student debt while having 1) the complete logistical ability and 2) massive public support to free over two-thirds or more of borrowers without literally seeing a dent in support for this action. There is virtually no substantial difference in support between $10k and $50k yet they produce drastically different ends that it's criminal to not do the latter.

ย

The gaslighting is too much. I think I'm at my wit's end. Weak and objectively counterintuitive legislation is argued as "accepting what we can get" yet this is just too much. It's too brazen. It's a spit in the face of the generation Obama sold off to loan companies. It's a stab in the back to low-income, first generation students.ย

ย

And the gaslighting is what is genuinely upsetting - to be the person these pompous privileged Democrats are weaponizing to justify their anti-poor bullshit. AS SOMEONE WHO WAS EXPERIENCING THE ELECTRIC AND WATER BEING TURNED OFF WHILE APPLYING FOR SCHOOLS, I LITERALLY DO NOT CARE IF SOME DOCTOR BENEFITS FROM THIS. I DO NOT!! WHO CARES? :deadbanana4:ย And this goes for all of us low-income first gen students whose upward mobility meant becoming the head-of-household for parents disabled or similarly poor.ย

ย

To sentence us to 20 years of "income-driven repayment programs" that literally only 32 (!) people have EVER received forgiveness from, simply to teach us the lesson that wishing to not be poor is a crime, all while it is objectively so close and easy to forgive this debt by the political party who claims to care about poor people.ย :toofunny3:

ย

If the goal was to target the most poor, why not forgive all debt for the most poor? The poorest quintile of borrowers still average upwards of $25-30k in debt. If Dems are gonna **** us, at least don't insult us by lying.ย :deadbanana4:

Iโ€™m curious to know what whatโ€™s gonna happen to all the people that paid down some amounts during the student loan freeze. I stupidly paid off 8K of student loans (wiping out basically 3/4 off my savings account) back in end of April bc I thought Joe Biden wasnโ€™t gonna extend again and I wanted to cash in on the no interestย :rip:

ย

If this 10k forgiveness is enacted I want that money back UGH

Biden a pathological liar who stans police, just like Trump

ย

ย

^she should have circled the "public colleges and universities tuition-free" bullet point too

Wait the student loan forgiveness proposal is only valid for individuals making up to 125k?ย  Are you f***ing kidding me?ย ย :biblio:

I knew that sooner or later gerrymandering Nashville would blow up in the GOPโ€™s faces considering the explosive growth the metro area is seeing (especially the suburbs). Will be a kii if all 3 districts end up being blue by the end of the decadeย :dies:

ย BTW, Campbell is definitely not winning this year, but the blueing of Middle Tennessee is inevitable. Late 2020s and early 2030s races will be quite interesting

Means-testing is bad, tea.

ย

But It's even worse, right? It's per family? So if your parents each make $63k per year, you wouldn't get any forgiveness on your undergraduate loans? Wowย

Per family????ย  Who came up with this plan?ย  Did they ever even TALK to people who have student loans?ย  Imagine if you have childrenย ย :deadbanana4:
