It's just literally political malpractice to opt-for relieving a sliver of borrowers from student debt while having 1) the complete logistical ability and 2) massive public support to free over two-thirds or more of borrowers without literally seeing a dent in support for this action. There is virtually no substantial difference in support between $10k and $50k yet they produce drastically different ends that it's criminal to not do the latter. The gaslighting is too much. I think I'm at my wit's end. Weak and objectively counterintuitive legislation is argued as "accepting what we can get" yet this is just too much. It's too brazen. It's a spit in the face of the generation Obama sold off to loan companies. It's a stab in the back to low-income, first generation students. And the gaslighting is what is genuinely upsetting - to be the person these pompous privileged Democrats are weaponizing to justify their anti-poor bullshit. AS SOMEONE WHO WAS EXPERIENCING THE ELECTRIC AND WATER BEING TURNED OFF WHILE APPLYING FOR SCHOOLS, I LITERALLY DO NOT CARE IF SOME DOCTOR BENEFITS FROM THIS. I DO NOT!! WHO CARES? And this goes for all of us low-income first gen students whose upward mobility meant becoming the head-of-household for parents disabled or similarly poor. To sentence us to 20 years of "income-driven repayment programs" that literally only 32 (!) people have EVER received forgiveness from, simply to teach us the lesson that wishing to not be poor is a crime, all while it is objectively so close and easy to forgive this debt by the political party who claims to care about poor people. If the goal was to target the most poor, why not forgive all debt for the most poor? The poorest quintile of borrowers still average upwards of $25-30k in debt. If Dems are gonna **** us, at least don't insult us by lying.

I stupidly paid off 8K of student loans (wiping out basically 3/4 off my savings account) back in end of April bc I thought Joe Biden wasn’t gonna extend again and I wanted to cash in on the no interest If this 10k forgiveness is enacted I want that money back UGH
