They're just as dense as he is. He never makes sense. I'll never understand how anyone with a functioning brain can hear Trump speak and say yes, lets put this man in the highest political office. It's never about substantive policies with them. They treat politics like they would their favorite sport, it's all about sticking it to the opposing side. Neoliberals are also like this when opposing Leftists just for the sake of it. 2 1
tiejc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Peltola won the open primary with 51%. Maybe Democrats are the ones being underestimated in polls... 3

None of this is to say the media was wrong for discussing Biden's cognitive issues (I was probably literally the very first person in this thread to jump on the "Biden is too old to run again and that's what's going to cost the Dems this election if he stays in" train), but it's infuriating for the same media organizations who reported on that nonstop because it's part of their "journalistic duty" or whatever to suddenly be silent whenever Trump does literally the exact same thing, if not even worse. 10

As someone who watches right wing news and some Trump rallies just for the mess it really is frustrating. This childcare statement isn't a one time thing. He has been like this the past year. Someone asks a question and he never answers it. He goes on rambling about how only he can save the country and then deflects to nicknames with a sprinkle of doom and gloom. I don't think I've heard him lay out actual policy that makes sense and/or a plan. 3 2
FameFatale Posted September 5 Posted September 5 This was a good interview. I love how down to earth Doug is.

Quoting her: - His 180 turn on banning TikTok - His wish to start another tariff-based trade war with China which would translate to a sales tax - His 180 turn on IVF - now wants the government paying for it (went out of her way to mention the $40K price tag, half per visit) - Stopping funding for weaponry for Ukraine I also like her, but I think she's playing coy and trying to hold out until the end to say she's voting for Kamala. She's said before that Trump needs to be defeated at all costs. 1 1
Bears01 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I don't ask for much, I just ask for: -a hairy stud to bend me ofer -my favorite football team to be good -trump to lose in November and then hold Kamala's feet to the fire as president. Thanks for coming to my ted talk 2 2

Hoping Kamala can crack AZ with the help of abortion and Kari Lake. It felt really nice having Biden win AZ last time. I need PA to come home to us though. I hate how it's neck and neck.

They spin these lunatic ramblings into something else when they report on it . See below Edited September 5 by GhostBox
Relampago. Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I'm surprised more people aren't worried by the polls. Even the texts I'm getting from Kamala's campaign are starting to turn way more negative. 1 2

Even the texts I'm getting from Kamala's campaign are starting to turn way more negative. Right now I'm kind of sitting in the middle of the "she's still slaying and everyone saying otherwise is getting too spooked by R-leaning polls" camp and the "her odds of winning have dropped by 20% in the last 4 days, it's Joever" camp. Looking at the polling with an objective eye, she's doing worse today than she was a week or two ago. We're also in the scary territory where even a small polling error in Trump's favour would be enough to win him the election, whereas a week or two ago, we would have needed another 2016/2020-esque error in his favour. But on the other hand, if you're not building in a vibes-based assumption that the polls will automatically be wrong in Trump's favour, she's still leading in enough swing states to get to 270, and the dip in her polling recently has at least in part been due to a sudden flood of R-leaning polls and drought of top-rated non-partisan polls. So I'm not as happy about the race as I was before/during the DNC, but I'm not in panic mode yet. 5

I understand being weary because complacency is bad, but fear mongering when the data is in our favor is odd. You've got Nate Silver flat-out admitting to unskewing polls or weighing them to help Trump and then polls like Rasmussen struggling to give Trump a measly 1-pt lead and we're like, "oh no, why aren't we more worried". We're all scared 100%, but we are sitting pretty and nothing is budging Kamala's lead right now and she has a national lead that most experts agree translates to a slight electoral win. Just need to get this damn debate over with lol. 5
