Oprah is the epitome of rags to riches, though. Americans love celebrities. That's just how our culture is.

The sad truth is, celebrities, billionaires, and life-long republicans appeal more to the average American. The convention is a show first and foremost so they're going to choose what appeals to the most people.

I agree. Celebrities won't decide who wins, but they still have a huge amount of influence and are therefore pivotal to political parties. I think people like the Obamas, Oprah, and even Kamala Harris discussing wealth inequality when it comes to their own lives is effective because it resonates with the "American Dream." These people worked for their money and status rather than inheriting it, which aligns with Michelle Obama's point about how there is no affirmative action for generational wealth. Of course, it can come off as tone-deaf if they focus a speech solely on this issue and harp on it, but they're usually savvy enough to avoid that.

They wouldn't lie? After years of them lying about Joe Biden's deteriorating health and mental decline? This is EXACTLY the kind of thing Establishment Democrats would lie about ALL THE TIME. And they know their loyal stenographers in the mainstream press will be more than eager to help them spread their lies to discredit the left.

Do the republican party next!

Did people forget that Beyonce did like a whole free concert for Hillary? It ironically was in Ohio just four nights before election day, and the same night reporting began really accelerating out of Wisconsin and Michigan that something was... off in the water and people on the ground started getting sick over the feeling of what was about to come.

The performance of Formation? Fabulous. We love Bey. But she's not going to undo the mistakes of politicians who abandon their base.

Though I wouldn't say no to a performance of "ALL UP IN YOUR MIND" just for funs. :gayoncecat2:

Harris is in a better position than Hillary ever was. For one she's actually campaigning where it matters 😂

second she's not as hated as Hillary was.

of course Beyoncé isn't going to move any voters but it will bring media attention which is a big thing when running for office.

It's kind of interesting how Oprah didn't bother to do anything for Hillary. I wonder if she was worried about the blowback or just doesn't like her.

Hillary and Trump both were very disliked by the time the election happened. 💀

Oprah endorsing Obama over Hillary was a key moment in 2008. I imagine she's not her biggest fan :gaycat5:

It's genuinely wild and might not get accurately depicted in history that part of why Democrats are able to sustain themselves and maintain a nonsensical and ideologically incoherent coalition for a decade or so has been because Republicans became so prone to overt cruelty that mainstream conservatives now openly mock autistic children. :rip:

A war criminal being welcomed while Palestinians get rejected would be... genuinely, as someone whose entire political view was radicalized and informed by being a child of the 9/11 era... :gaycat7:

finally some sense from you. This would be devastatingly tone deaf. Who the **** cares about Bush? Who in the real world would be swayed by a Bush endorsement???
