At the cost of the expansion of a still massively controversial pipeline in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to please Manchin's donors as well as massively expanded offshore drilling that will greatly increase the risk of environmental catastrophe for hundreds of habitats of already endangered ecosystems, not to mention vital tourism, fishing and agricultural centers.

But other than that, it'll do wonders! :ace:

Also, good luck accessing the grants for solar panels :coffee2:

That’s the problem with these “incremental” approach bipartisan bills. Dems brag about the 10 small steps forward they bring us, but leave out the 10 steps backward they also take us. :skull: But that’s because the purpose of passing bills like this isn’t effecting positive change. It’s to pat themselves on the back, punch the left, tell voters that the grown ups in the room did something, and ultimately please the donors, who are the only people who really matter in the end.

And the worst part is Democrats are going to use the passage of this bill as an excuse to never touch the issue of climate change again for many years to come. “We already passed the most expansive climate change reform in history!” And even if they tried, Republicans would be able to easily shut down that discussion given this fossil fuel subsidies bill has been branded solely as a climate change reform package (“We already passed your environmental bill, what more could you want? See how unreasonable Democrats are!”), so Democrats would have to criticize their own bill before they could even suggest any other measures to combat climate change but they would never do that. And that’s before we get into the actual effectiveness of the bill that costs less than 4 percent of what we already will spend on the military over the next 10 years. When we still don’t hit net greenhouse gas emissions targets in the coming years because this law wouldn’t allow us to do that: “See climate change laws don’t work! Let’s learn from this!”

I don't know how countries can stand by at the horrors America inflicts onto the world via climate. The "Hollywoodification" of politics in America resulting in senators jumping up and down and holding each other and crying tears on the voting floor and saying "we did it!" and "we've made a difference in our children's lives!!!" when.......even in the best case scenario of the bill working as it should and without corporate greed, we're going to need another bill of equivalent size  in 3-4 years to just ensure that our 2030 goal gets reached. :deadbanana4:

The centrists barking on command in the replies that “What everyone means is a 40 percent reduction in emissions from the 2005 peak! No one is phrasing it otherwise!” :deadbanana4: Ignoring the fact that Dems and online libs are absolutely saying the bill will reduce emissions by half or 40 percent while leaving out all other context. If we’re on the topic of what this bill accomplishes, how does it make sense to compare emissions to 2005 levels rather than the projections given our current policies? :skull:

Solid ad I guess but Walker will just bring up Warnock running over his ex-wife's foot to dismiss it :coffee2:

These “analysis” are so dizzying and counterfactual I can’t even process :deadbanana4:

with gas prices going down and all the legislation achievements being passed. And trump getting back into  the picture! I think it’s moving the needle  back into the Dems favor. Still the house is gone but maybe they can stop the bleeding a little.

Yep, I imagine the abortion rights discourse is going to ratchet up closer to the midterms. And hopefully by then, Republicans won't be able to hide behind gas prices.

the US finally doing something about climate change feels like a dream :jonny:

And the best part is, they stayed in line with the climate targets outlined in Build Back Better

FZU9t7oUEAUiLLq?format=jpg&name=large

Doing about two-thirds of the remaining work needed to close the gap between current policy and the nation’s 2030 climate goal (to get to at least 50% below 2005 levels).

Then, when the expansion in oil production hits and gas prices fall, voters won't associate climate policy with high gas prices anymore, just new manufacturing jobs. Thereby robbing Republican's of their main cudgel against climate policy (i.e. high energy prices). This is so delicious.:WAP:

And, according to Dems, we're just getting started, with this bill helping to establish the credibility of green initiatives. :alexz3:

Centrists saying this while saying everything is fine while progressives are like "Dems can win huge majorities!!! We just need ACTUAL policy!!!"  Why are you fatalist? Is partisanship a suicide death cult? :deadbanana4: Are is this the reverse psychology where you claim everything is doomed so that when Pelosi holds the house by 2 seats you can go "YAS SLAY DEMOCRATS HELD THEIR OWN!!!" when people point out what a **** result that would be? :deadbanana4:

Oh wow, looks like the Republican abortion blunder and the government’s policy successes are beginning to bear fruit :clap3:  With gas prices going down continuously and employment at an all time high, it’s looking pretty good for Dems

If DOJ indicts Hunter, all bets are off.

Lots of ways to unpack these hypotheticals.

Will Donald also be indicted? My bet's always been no. If both get it, in what order?

Safely assume following that logic that both get indicted after the midterms.

Thing is, Wray is a Trump appointee, so he could very easily indict Hunter in a similar manner to Comey announcing his investigation into Clinton 10 days before the election. Is it likely? Maybe not, but I wouldn't put it past him.

Fair.

Speaking of which, MAGA world isn't going to distinguish, despite Garland's memo on timing, between opening an investigation, charges and search warrants, so close to the midterms here:
