Chemist Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 the US finally doing something about climate change feels like a dream

But other than that, it'll do wonders! Also, good luck accessing the grants for solar panels

The "Hollywoodification" of politics in America resulting in senators jumping up and down and holding each other and crying tears on the voting floor and saying "we did it!" and "we've made a difference in our children's lives!!!" when.......even in the best case scenario of the bill working as it should and without corporate greed, we're going to need another bill of equivalent size in 3-4 years to just ensure that our 2030 goal gets reached. ClashAndBurn Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Well, weβre not getting anymore climate packages for at least 20 years. Doubtful Democrats take back a trifecta before then. Until then, you can count on βDrill, baby, drillβ being the bipartisan mantra.

Dem A: "We need to do more than the IRA and invest in our climate in such a way that it meets the moment. We need to do better." Dem B: "I really don't think we should be downplaying the most significant investment in climate in our country's history. I don't want to undo the good work that President Biden did with a 50-50 Senate to pass the historic IRA."

We can't "undermine Obama's legacy" after all.
TheLastChord Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 The only Republican who has a shot at beating Trump in the primary is De Santis, and I don't actually think he has a shot. I'd say Trump would get 50% or so, DS around 30 and the others would get the rest. And I think De Santis knows this and that's why he'll run in 2028 instead, because we all know Republicans are taking the White House in 2024 regardless of the candidate.

Lots of ways to unpack these hypotheticals. Will Donald also be indicted? My bet's always been no. If both get it, in what order? Safely assume following that logic that both get indicted after the midterms.
