The people who are happy by a VP pick are not then the people who need something else to be happy. It's a gradient of voters being reached. The more Kamala moves to the left, the inevitably better her position is and the more voters she reaches because Democrats simply do not win presidential races pivoting to the right. Forcing Kamala to move to the left as much as possible - and thus get more voters - is a sign of wanting Trump to lose, not win. This is what is revealed about Biden dead-enders by Biden dropping out - that you don't actually have any desire for Dems to win. You want to perpetuate the claim that Dems winning is inherently depending on your right-wing views of the world being normalized, even when you continually end up defunct & just... wrong. "Biden needs to stay in the race and prove his haters wrong!" "Kamala needs a safe moderate VP choice to prove the haters wrong!"
