Again, this right-wing bad faith framing doesn't convince anyone nor will anyone see you as doing anything but pushing right-wing p[propaganda when this is what Kamala would be willingly signing up for:

And obviously this is just anecdotal, but it still shows why focusing too much on a single path risks closing off other potential avenues. We need a pick who can lift several areas and not just one big oneย :celestial5:

Oh, they released that Dem poll showing Trump up in PA just in time for her to choose Shapiro. :ahh:ย It's so transparent.

Sis, I'm not trying to convince anyone to do anything :rip:, and I've made it clear I do not like/want Shapiro. But the fact remains, if you are in a battleground state and you're sitting out over an inconsequential VP pick, you will be directly contributing to trans and immigrant genocide here in the US. Sorry about it.

If you had your way, Marianne would be the nominee and Dems would lose in a 0 - 538 landslide, giving the Trump admin the complete mandate to wipe out every single person who isn't white, Christian, male, rich, heterosexual, and cisgender. Pls miss me with the faux concern.

So many frustrating ways to view picking Shapiro but at least it's all over tomorrow.

ย

The first perspective is the obvious picking someone with baggage that a sector of the Dem coalition is vehemently against.

ย

But the other is that people are trying to frame leftists/voters who care about the Israeli genocide of Palestinians like Arab Americans as being difficult.

Meanwhile, these voters are saying "we're perfectly fine with 2 of the frontrunners!" that are center-left at best and have not-ideal views on Israel. We're giving the Harris campaign so much room.

"We won't support Harris if she doesn't pick Shapiro due to fringe left antisemites!! It will tell us there's no longer is a place for US in OUR party!!"

ย

*most replies being confusion and anger that he would even vote for Democrats because "COVID was fake", "Dems tried to make us mask slaves", and "Dems are fascists who support Black Lives Matters terrorists to destroy and ravage our cities"*

ย

Why do so many Republicans want Shapiro on the ticket? Why shouldn't it be a badge of honor when Zionists say that.the Democratic party is too progressive for them?

I just hope the VP selection can move the public past bad faith arguments about which VP candidate people must pick, and bad towards faith arguments over something less stressfulย :chick1:

Tbh I keep wondering why Beshear suddenly seemed to disappear from all the discussions. If I'm Harris and I'm battling between picking someone with potentially strong electoral power but a ton of baggage vs. a unifier for the party but with arguably less proof of electoral power, Beshear seems like the perfect middle ground who brings a slightly weaker version of Shapiro's upsides and a slightly weaker version of Walz' upsides, but without either's downsides.ย
ย

His only downside seems to be that he's not as comfortable of an orator as either Shapiro or Walz, but Harris herself is a great orator so that's not what her ticket is missing. Her ticket is missing someone who can come across as relatable to lower education rural voters, and I actually think Beshear's style of speaking works well for that.ย

I sense that when it comes to Beshear, where he lacks in oration, he has strength in speaking to the heart of voters. Especially given where he's from, being able to appeal to their emotions & being personable allows him to have an impact. Biden used that quality & it worked in his favor, and I could see Kamala utilizing that same quality in Beshear to speak to those uncertain in the rural/midwest & Bible Belt.

Beshear is over. His X account gives off the vibe that he is disappointed with not being asked to the final interviewย

ย

It's Kelly or Shapiroย

Posted

I feel like it's so obviously Shapiro that I've gone full circle and I don't think it's him simply because he's the obvious choice and I feel like VP picks always gag me

ย

But Kelly would be the biggest gag and it seems like he's OUT

I know, that's the point aimed at the user above.

ย

That far-rightists who have nothing in common with the Dem base are coddled and treated like examples of the median voterย by Dem elites and pundits (despite this being at odds w/ reality) . And that the left is met with left-punching and disdain over things that are rational concerns rooted in actual material suffering.

ย

That this petulant left-punching over who people vote for or if they do not vote is just a continuation of that gaslighting by powerful elites and pundits.

ย

That it's entirely unreasonable to scold people torn over Dems helping to kill their relatives in Gaza while coddling far-right voters who try and bend the Democratic party to their will to the point of Biden supporting a far-right immigration bill or Dems like Shapiro using his governorship to appoint Republicans all throughout the state.

ย

Anyone who claims to have an interest in addressing suffering should never punch left and always punch right. It really should be that simple.

The right-wing position is inherently illogical, even when Democrats support it, and should be met with scolding and condescension every single time.

ย

It's not "leftists want to stick it to Dems over Gaza";

It's "affluent moderates care more about letting poor people suffer than stopping Trump from letting their daughters be forced to give birth to rapists' babies".ย

ย

The left-wing desire to pull Dems to the left will always be rational. The right-wing desire to perpetuate suffering will always be illogical.
