Also, where was all of this opposition research when Josh Shapiro was running for governor? Was Mastriano's team that incompetent? Shapiro may not have won had all of these stories come out. :ahh:

The sexual harassment scandal happened after he was elected governor, Pennsylvania's population wouldn't have cared about his Israel positions (especially in 2022 when the Middle East wasn't on people's minds as much), and the murder cover-up comes across as too conspiratorial to make a meaningful impact on people's voting decisions.

How are the Dems self destructing? ๐Ÿ’€

For the most part they are more unified and determined than they have been in 4 years ๐Ÿ˜‚

Eh. I don't buy into the doom and gloom of a Shapiro pick.ย
ย

I prefer Tim Walz myself because I like his personality the most but still.ย

There was no way he was losing to Mastriano, no matter what. Mastriano is one of the worst political candidates for any public office I can ever remember, maybe only beaten by Roy Moore. Even if 2022 was a 2010 level environment of bad for Dems, I'd still say Mastriano would loseย

I read that he was basically running against someone who tried to pardon his own family for hiring a hitman :deadbanana:ย among other things too ofc, whatever horrible stuff Shapiro said or done the opponent was even worse

Either way Shapiro has way tooo much baggage. The prospect of maybe getting PA does not outweigh multiple things that should disqualify him from being picked, which is probably why he is indeed the pick :skull:

So it's been reported that Biden likes Shapiro and Pelosi likes Walz. More important than either of those endorsements, though, is the fact that several big unions have publicly expressed disapproval of Shapiro and Kelly. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.ย
ย

The fun possibility is that they're pulling the same bait and switch they did with Biden and Harris: get everyone talking about Shapiro, Walz, Beshear so they take any negative attention and then pick Buttigieg, Whitmer, or Pritzker instead.ย

Wait... duh. If I had given this more than five seconds of thought, I would've picked up on this. :jonny:ย

It really won't. It will sour some people so it should be avoided, but you guys are overestimating how much the American people will look into Shapiro beyond face value.

Yeah, but who got Biden to drop out? Pelosi. She's the one with the power. :eli:

If Kamala picks the wrong VP it's really over. She didn't win any primary so her VP pick will define her candidacy moreso than any POTUS candidate in modern history. A pick like Shapiro tanks the ticket.ย

Of course you would think so, you're a Jill Stein stan. You wouldn't be voting for Kamala anyways.ย

Stein isn't on the ballot in my state, but I love that Stein is CONSISTENT about her beliefs. Not everyone has that in their top candidates.ย

Glad you demoted Shapiro from your top pickย :clap3:

I was thinking about point number three here. The only way they could pick Shapiro is if they then go to the unions and the teachers and all of these different advocacy groups that have come out against Shapiro and make promises that will make them feel more comfortable with that pick. The only way you don't slap those groups in the face. It doesn't make sense any other way. But really, how embarrassing is that? You have to pick someone for vice president and then immediately go and apologize to everyone for it. So strange. ย

I don't think they plan to apologize. I think they're more likely to stick to the strategy laid out by The Atlantic's Yair Rosenberg: anyone who doesn't like Shapiro being picked as VP is an irredeemable anti-Semite and we don't want their votes anyway. They'll lean on the "Trump is an existential threat" excuse that they've relied on to not have to have any actionable policy platform for the last eight years, and then they'll just assume that the dissidents will come home anyway like they usually do (and still blame them anyway if they lose).

Nothing good about consistently being Putin's cumrag. I wonder if she visited Moscow recently yet to get the Kremlin's permission to unsuccessfully run for the 30th time

This might be a good comeback if Kamala wasn't tied to the Biden/Harris administration which is consistently doing this for Netanyahu.ย :toofunny3:

All this Shapiro talk is getting hyperbolic. Nothing has actually happened. Yet we have an increasingly overblown bandwagon, yapping to each other seeing who can get the next most outlandish doomer take about how Shapiro brings the whole operation down single handedly. I don't mind pressuring the campaign to not pick him, but if they do, it's gonna be really frustrating to see all the disproportionate breakdowns about it being 'over'

ย

VP Shapiro falls firmly into the 'not ideal' category, not the 'disaster' category. In the end it is Kamala's positions that actually matter and he will fall in line with them.ย The man is not really that meaningfully different to someone like Mark Kelly but yall have convinced each other he is satanspwan. And he somehow gets framed as worse every day. Keep yourselves togetherย :deadbanana2:
