Mike91 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 A Harris/Shapiro ticket is too elitist feeling and Beshear is just boring to me. Not a bad thing for a VP candidate but I feel like he wouldn't really add anything to the ticket. He's just kinda there imo. Still, he's my second choice. Walz on the ticket would bring to the campaign what Kamala is lacking. It's an obvious choice but the democratic party has a tendency to let you down. Hopefully Nancy wins out in the end, again. 3 6

i spit on haters Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Israel doesn't have "the right to defend itself" against a group of people they're occupying. Oct. 7th was a response to that. Israel has never wanted peace but do they love to play the victim. Studies like this and various others in addition to how Zionists conduct themselves doesn't make most people empathize with them, either. And def. doesn't make them safer. It makes many people despise jews and don't see much of an dichotomy between them and Zionists. And of course, one doesn't have to be jewish to be a Zionists but many will still group them all together by default. Said it before and I'll keep saying it, they have become the antagonists to their own story.

State of Grace. Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) An inherently sadistic, violent, perverted, rotten, and depraved society. You simply cannot "coexist" with a morally hallowed nation like this. The dismantling of this genocidal state and a forced collective re-education of the Israeli people is a necessary condition for peace. There will never be peace without that happening first. Politicians (incl so-called "Liberal" ones) were just arguing that torture via anal rape is justified and moral when done to Palestinians. Israelis were protesting FOR the right to rape Palestinian detainees as a form of punitive punishment. They built their entire settler-colony on murder, racism, and rape. If I see the "its only the Netanyahu government! Stop generalizing!" argument one more ******* time here....You're just being purposefully dense and delusional if you still believe that another government wouldn't be murdering and carpet-bombing Gazans too. Meretz, which used to be the only non-Arab political party in Israel that opposed the occupation, couldn't even garner enough votes to get a seat in the Knesset. That's how bad it is. And last month it got dissolved and was merged with Labour Party to form one party called The Democrats. Yair Golan, the head of this so-called "Zionist Left" party was literally calling for an invasion in Lebanon and establishing a "security strip" inside its borders some days ago. He also said this crazy quote months ago: Zionists will be.....Zionists at the end of the day. And they are all a threat to human existence. Edited August 2 by State of Grace. 5 5

Do you think being compared to one of the most beloved presidents in recent history is a "whack"? The issue isn't whether he can defend himself. The issue is why would we put a candidate on the national stage who even HAS to give an answer to the following questions: "Gov. Shaprio, why did you.... Say that Palestinians are not capable of coexisting peacefully? Help cover up a sexual assault claim against one of your aides? Call for corporate tax breaks similar to the ones Trump passed and wants to expand on?" 2 3

It's a whack cuz he's impersonating Obama, and well he's not Obama or have anything close to his pre-presidency charm. 1

Presidential elections are all about personality and charisma at the end of the day and he lacks in that department. Again, it's not a bad thing from a VP candidate but I don't think he really does anything for her. Oddly enough, I see him appealing to suburban women more than rural voters. Kamala needs both to win but I'd argue suburban women are more likely to vote democratic right now than rural voters.
modeblock Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Shapiro and Butt have me on edge. Either would be a disaster, and I really really can't expect the Democrats to make the right decision. I know she won't announce until Monday, but damn it's gonna be a long weekend. Edited August 2 by modeblock 1

Agreed with everything you said, as usual. But this sentiment in particular really frustrates the **** out of me. Have been in several heated arguments over this. One can't claim it's just the Israeli goverment when its citizens go on hills with lawn chairs & snacks to watch bombings like it's a football match (innately disturbing) or when they're together in jubilation throwing raves on the other side of the wall celebrating the deaths and starvation of Gazans or when they're destroying and blocking AID vehicles. And that barely scratches the surface of their unhinged and profoundly sinister behavior. There have been large protests for Bibi to step down, yes, but those same protesters want the war on Palestine to continue. I will say, I have respect for the young Israelis who strongly oppose their governments abhorrent actions and refuse to join the IOF. They're refusal to join the military has been steadily increasing. The result is that they're being jailed for it, though. They're not a democracy. 3 2
