family.guy123 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 How the study was conducted: ย Quote This Pew Research Center analysis covers Israeli attitudes on the Israel-Hamas war, including opinions on how it's being conducted, the country's future, Israeli political leaders and the United States' role in the conflict. The data is from a survey of 1,001 Israeli adults conducted face-to-face from March 3 to April 4, 2024. Interviews were conducted in Hebrew and Arabic, and the survey is representative of the adult population ages 18 and older, excluding those in East Jerusalem and non-sanctioned outposts. (The survey also did not cover the West Bank or Gaza.) The survey included an oversample of Arabs in Israel. It was subsequently weighted to be representative of the Israeli adult population with the following variables: gender by ethnicity, age by ethnicity, education, region, urbanicity and probability of selection of respondent. ย Here are the questions used: ย https://www.pewresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2024/05/pg_2024.05.30_israeli-views-war_topline.pdf ย
Bamboo Posted August 2 Posted August 2 She's in too strong of a position to pick Shapiro. Shapiro is high risk low reward at this point. At her current trend she has a strong chance of winning PA regardless. The worst thing she could do is kill the enthusiasm with someone who has limited political experience and insane amounts of baggage for what? 1 point in PA? 1 point in PA doesn't matter if she can't win MI + WI.ย 2 4

SeeingStars1515 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 This is a systemic problem in our society. After any terrorist attack that results in deaths and hostages, any population would have similar numbers (see US after 9/11 despite the disingenuous reasons for the US attacking the Middle East). That doesn't make it right but that is part of the human condition. To make this into an Israeli Jewish issue is missing the point, which is that our world's injustices (such as Israel's policies on Gaza) results in violence, which begets more violence.ย ย Let's look at some of the positives in this chart - more people believe that Palestine should be governed by someone that is not Israel (44 to 40 with 16 who refuse/DK). More people view Netanyahu unfavorably (I wish more people viewed Gallant unfavorably).ย Most Israelis believe Arab countries surrounding them should help diplomatically in what comes next (too many think the US should IMO but alas, at least many view Biden's approach, which while favoring an ally at least is more leveled as of lately).ย More Israelis are concerned about the "War" is going to go on too long.ย ย Everyone in Israel knows someone who was killed or kidnapped by the attacks. That is where we are seeing these numbers. ย My hope (besides a ceasefire) is that we are seeing the worst of it before we see some some major reforms for Israel's recognition for Palestinians right to self determination and underscoring the horrors of the Israel's military actions in Gaza. 1 6

bunnyeyes Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I'm just waiting and hoping for the inevitable switch up about how great Walz is in here from certain users if he ends up being picked.ย
Blade Posted August 2 Posted August 2 In Nancy we trust Even former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appears to be leaning in Walz's favor. A source familiar with the California Democrat's thinking told The Hill she "is always especially fond of former House colleagues" when asked about Harris's running mate, a nod to Walz. 1 8

MAKSIM Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Walz polling isn't great among democrats or independents, even against people with similar name recognition and when controlling for that variable. NausAllien Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Yikes! I sure hope she doesn't pick Shapiro because it just keeps getting worse and worse the more we learn about him... He might be appealing to blue collar Rust Belt voters but I think it will hurt her chances among minorities and young progressive voters. ย
