She was described as a relatively apolitical Democrat who was liberal on most issues and generally a good woman according to people who knew her in the past. She can pretend otherwise, but I imagine it's soul crushing to sell your morals down the river not even for yourself, but for your husband. She's an Indian woman who the very party she's now tied to would trot out these racist attacks against her and her children if they needed to and she's smart enough to know that.
