He can speak to the everyday man, former teacher, former military vet, knows how to argue and energize the younger generation. He perfect. Against Vance and trump if he ever need to argue with them. Why not announce in Tuscon or Pheonix if you were announcing Kelly? Beshear, Butti and Walz arent from swing states, so no reason to announce in their home states. Edited July 31 by Tovitov

If it is Shapiro, I wonder how much of it is them feeling more confident fighting extra hard in Michigan and a little less hard in the rest of the Rust Belt than trying to fight equally hard across the Rust Belt.

They must see some kind of path to winning without Michigan but.. how - Good speaker - Swing State - Not Old - Counters some of the antisemitism allegations (though also raises anti-Palestinian ones) Winning Georgia or the combination of Arizona-Nevada would make up for losing Michigan. I think the real tea is that they probably think they can win Michigan even with Shapiro (and I don't think that's necessarily wrong but I assume they're privy to data that we aren't). 1
