By "the people" you meanย some vocal pockets online. No polling suggests the people want Walz over any of the other choices.ย

ย

ย

I agree that it's mostly online anecdata we have to support Walz. But sometimes when that's all you have it's hard not put a little weight on it.

ย

ย

Walz is winning this online poll from a popular election nerd by over 50%, and it has had over 5,000 responses.

On the contrary, despite the media hype, Shapiro has gotten the least amount of engagement after being posted by the campaign on @KamalaHQ then every other VP hopeful in the past 24 hours, even Whitmer who ruled herself out of contention and was appearing as a sub-headliner at the same event.ย

I wonder if anything can be done about Elon's blatant interference in the election. He's only going to get worse as we get closer to November. Suspending the White Dudes For Harris account in the middle of their fundraising is disgusting

Oh yeah, of course. I don't think they do actual polls like that. But the fact that he was able to create a narrative that has taken hold among the entire party. It's a pretty big deal. ย That's not something that often happens with Democrats, because they're so bad at messaging lol.ย

Apparently, he didn't actually suspend that account as it's back now. It must've been mass reported and then the algorithm took it down. But either way I am sure he's going to try and do something. But to be honest with how fired up people are and with how many people are joining it's going to be really difficult for him to suppress that.ย

The ragging here he got wasn't necessary and I didn't want him but the Senate rumors weren't as immediately true. This actually makes me more sadโ€ฆ.ย :doc:ย Robinson's the most insane politician in the country so this doesn't surprise meโ€ฆ

to back out of supporting her

Oh sis, let's be very clear. I'm trying to find reasons to justify supporting her. To find a reason to vote for her. Because votes are not guaranteed by default. I cannot back out of anything I can't be forced into.ย

ย

You can do whatever you want with your vote. If your vote is guaranteed by default, that's fine and I would never shame you for that. I understand the context in which you're making that decision.ย

ย

But also...more Americans hold my views about voting than yours.ย

ย

No one seemingly answered my question on the last page. I hope not due to being unable to. But if you want progressives to vote for Harris, you at some point reasonably will have to articulate where Harris is more progressive on policy than Biden. Biden wasn't popular. Having another candidate with Biden's policy platform won't be popular.ย

ย

She seemingly has the same views as him now on healthcare, immigration, Israel, fracking, and taxes. People didn't want a Biden presidency even before his debate failure.

ย

The question that determines if she wins or not is then what policy does a Harris presidency offer that Biden's did not. This should not be hard to answer.ย

Most of the time VPs are from safe states. Picking a sitting senator or governor in a swing state can hurt the party. Pundits love to say that a vp pick can deliver a swing state, but that rarely happens. I guess Al Gore could be an example, but I'm not familiar with Tennessee's electoral historyย

ย

Based on history, her vp pick will be Walz, Pritzker or Buttigieg.

But this is an extremely abnormal election and the media keeps reporting that it's Kelly or Shapiro, so who knowsย

ย

ย

Democrats actually had the governor's office when Al Gore was vice president. Tennessee became red and has continually grown more red after 2000 because it became a "republican safe hold." It's more red now just because republicans flee here and its annoying af.

Would Biden have dropped out unless she promised Option 2? Again, this gets back to the point I made a week ago. The ultimate Catch 22.
