I'm shocked the 2020 results even ended up under 3.5 points. It just gives ruby red to me.

One of Kamala's volunteers knocking on my door asking me what issues I'm concerned about:deadbanana2:

Imagine if Kamala kept GA blue and flipped NC. :deadbanana:ย The MAGA meltdowns would be delicious.ย
ย

I wish a blowout was possible just to prove that America has moved on from Trump and MAGA. :cries:

Posted (edited)

Bernie is making someโ€ฆ interesting choices lately. Him being Biden's biggest cheerleader against dropping out and then doing this is somethingโ€ฆ

Kamala needs a strong working class message and word on the street was even Obama didn't think she could win. We are still facing an uphill battle and strong stances are needed.ย

I saw a post from someone making some really compelling arguments why he believes FL will shockingly turn blue this year and just the thought alone has me tickled

Dddd I cackled when I saw this cause I knew it would relitigate both 2016 and 2020 but also do remember in Biden's last days (I don't mean it like that ddd) that Bernie was on CNN saying that Biden is the nominee and instead of trying to replace him, Dems need to accept that the only way Biden can win is by presenting a progressive agenda focused on the needs of the working class.

ย

(I'm sure it was posted in this thread. I remember eye-rolling at GhostBox going "Bernie spilled!! *handclap emoji*" ddd)

ย

This obviously annoying for the part that Bernie (and AOC) didn't realize the "push liberals only after electing them" thing didn't work and Biden's rep was so damaged even policies about rent increase caps and court reforms were getting eye rolls.ย

ย

It's funny given the context and Bernie has walked himself into a trap of optics given he misread the room in not pushing Biden out but he really has basically said the same thing about every Democrat who runs for the office of president since like 2004 ddd.ย

I'm so nervous. I don't know if Independent male voters are ready to vote for a black female POTUS. Does anyone think I'm wrong? Obviously Kamala will mobilize the Democratic base voters more than Biden but what about those Independents?

I actually think this single answer is the biggest proof so far of how completely inept Vance is as a politician. Because if he had taken thisย exact same positionย but just framed it in the reverse (i.e., that parents should get bigger child tax credits), it would come across as sane and would honestly probably get a decent amount of support. But he's so irredeemably bad at this that he went out of his way to word his position in a way that makes it sound unhinged :deadbanana4:

Outrage to "DEI" being used as a slur becoming even a rallying cry for white southern women due to how bad and toxic reactionary Republican politics has gotten.ย :deadbanana4:

ย

(Me remembering Kassi and another still active liberal user hopping on the "bash DEI" train and claiming most criticisms were held by reasonable centrists and DEI was a failed whacky lefty policy. Let alone them finding it funny when an Israeli debate host called Briahna Joy Gray "DEI Barbie")

ย

The way the political tides and cultural norms can do a 180 when people feel there's a momentum behind a political sentiment and they want to be on the winning side..

ย

@Kamala QUICK GET TRUMP TO BASH YOUR MARXIST PARENTSย :jonny6:

as long as Kamala keeps up the momentum and doesn't tank the campaign, I see her winning

Grace you act as if all independent straight men are racist or something. You really need to speak more. These guys are often the most politically aware of American voters.

He's said the same thing about Biden just this year too. Kamala hasn't talked much at all about what economic policies she'll put forward, so I'm sure he's waiting to see that.

ย

I will say though, it is ironic how moderate Dems used to criticize Bernie for not demonstrating sufficiently fawning loyalty toward the Democratic nominee in the case of Hillary, but then as Bernie became that way toward Biden those same moderates abandoned Biden like a trend gone out of style :deadbanana:ย (they had probably encouraged everyone to rally around Biden during the 2020 primaries too as the "reasonable centrist who was the only one who could beat Trump", despite progressives warning over his cognitive ability even then, which has become their main concern with him today as well as his inability to beat Trump). And of course now it's "WHY HAVEN'T YOU SWITCHED OVER TO SUPPORTING KAMALA IMMEDIATELY!"

ย

It sucks to realize, but most Democratic voters do just support what's trendy :dies:ย It was "kids in cages" all through Trump's presidency, but now they're advocating for as strict an immigration policy as possible to "beat Trump on immigration" just to get the blue team in the White House. All about "police reform NOW" in 2020 with the George Floyd protests going on, but now pushing the prosecutor angle to show they're tougher on crime than the GOP.

Men in general always seem to be more conservative than liberal. That natural aspect. Straight men overwhelming supported Bernie in 2020 and 2016. There also a huge chunk of them who are also not conservative.ย

I just worry. Gender dynamics in 2024 seem even more fraught than in 2016. I'm worried about Kamala's ability to mobilize male voters outside of that staunchly Democratic ones.ย

I doubt Independents are concerned with Kamala Harris's race or gender. Whether they'll vote for her will depend on her policies. Independentes are 43% of the electorate, so winning them over is crucial for any candidate that wants to win the election.ย

ย

My guess is:

ย

Her strongest points with Independents:

- Abortion rights

- LGBTQI+ rights

ย

Not a weak point, but not a strong point either:

- The economy

ย

Her weakest points with Independents:

- Border security

- Foreign policy
