I need you to understand you're not going to win any kind of messaging denial. No progressive is going to take her arguing flag burning should not be allowed  is just her "condemning something she doesn't agree with". They're going to take it as a threat of action by a future president against free speech.

Saying something should not be allowed is not an opinion when from a lawmaker.  It's a policy proposal.

Sorry Communion, I have to disagree with the threat to free speech is real when the evidence is just a statement that her team probably wrote in a matter of seconds after a mass email was probably sent out saying "just condemn this real quick". Especially in the face of bad faith attacks from Republicans saying Democrats support Hamas/flag burning. The second she's on the record saying banning flag burning as a method of protest will be a policy then of course i'd consider it a thread to freedom of speech.

No where in her statement does she say it should "never be ALLOWED"

she says  "It should never be desecrated in that way" that's her opinion on the act. That's not her saying it SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED

those two statements do not mean the same thing 👏🏼 no matter how hard some try to make them.

Serious question. Are you ok?
ever since Biden stepped down and Harris  has taken over you seem to have went off the deep end more than you already were. 👀

In what way is this me off the deep end? Literally all the officials coming out to condemn flag burning means they don't believe it is protected speech and would support charging it as a felony if they could.

Biden sucks, and Harris sucks too. Neither of them represent a positive direction for the country. And frankly no Democrat does. They're all evil pieces of ****, and I'm tired of the "breath of fresh air" rhetoric being spewed about Harris when she's a cop who represents the exact same old status quo ideas as Biden.

Yeah, she needs to distance herself from Biden and his genocidal cronies QUICKLY.

"The image of our nation's flag burning breaks my heart and I ultimately know it is a result of division in our country from a war that has gone on too long."

"I could never imagine why someone would want to desecrate our beautiful flag. These images upset me as much as the millions of other proud Americans it upsets. While part of an essential first amendment right, these images are ones too upsetting for most to accept. We must move beyond the division, finally bring peace to this conflict impacting the loved ones of countless Americans, and restore a sense of justice in the world."

There's literally a million ways to communicate this message.

She must not then view her battle against Trump as the most important election in her lifetime. And thus the voter ultimately won't either then.

Aren't you literally from a country where anti-Israel criticism can actually get you arrested?

Miss Naus may be a contrarian but let's then keep that smoke for everyone who in bad faith sticks their nose where it does not belong. :fan:

There would be people who would literally take offense to what you wrote as well.

Condemning an action because you disagree with it is not the same as arguing the action should not be allowed. Kamala's statement did the latter, not the former. And even if you lie and say you interpret it not to be a literal call to not allow something, it's a horrific statement given her past statements as VP.

Unless I'm misreading something, her statement did the former, not the latter.

You also said Biden would be here right now on his 10th campaign stop of the week just 5 days ago so I'm ultimately not sure what credibility or your worldview holds.

Sorry but it's true. I could come up with a handful of criticisms they would pull from your statement as well 🤷

Trust me, I was nervous when I saw Kamala posted a statement but it was the most samey/say nothing statement she could have put out for that protest.

I hope she doesn't actually disappoint me when/if details of her meeting with Netanyahu comes out. The WSJ scoop better be correct with her calling for a ceasefire.

I just want to clarify that I'm not a contrarian. I'm not trolling either. I simply have a different opinion and perspective than most of you and I like to express it.

Since I've faced constant attacks and hostility for having a differing opinion, I've chosen not to participate as often.

I hope y'all have fun in your ECHO CHAMBERS :gaynetcat3:

That's not how it's being taken by progressives, especially when somehow arguing what is part of the constitution is also somehow un-American and unpatriotic. The idea that you can burn the American flag as a protest is central to the constitutional ideals of America.

People can hope her words will be interpreted as the former but I'd be willing to make a bet on what the narrative would be in 12 hours when searching "flag burning" on TikTok.

Yeah this is it. Flag burning shouldn't mean anything, but expecting a president to defend burning the flag is like expecting a fish to come up for air.

We're literally having a disagreement right now about how Kamala's team handled her statement yet this is an "echo chamber" :rip: Okay

>> Republicans make clear their position

>> Democrats react and carve out their position as just slightly to the left of the Republican position.

Again, maybe this is what some think she has to do in order to win moderates and centrists. Maybe her and some think they don't need to progressives to win. I don't hold it against people who hold those views. It just requires acknowledging reality for what it is and then not expecting young people or progressives to be who has to deliver a win for her, for example.

My issue is more with the reactionary cynicism that still peddles the idea that the path to the White House is through centrism. And can't help but feel most who would cosign that theory as just 3 weeks ago being part of the many saying you can't just force the sitting president off of a ticket and that such is a crazy idea.

More so an issue of a lack of political imagination before anything else!

Kamala to Netanyahu: "Welcome Mr. Prime Minister. I look forward to our conversation. We have a lot to talk about," Harris said as she shook Netanyahu's hand.

Hope shes reaming him a new arsehole right now. Probably not but a gay can dream.

*this* would be a convincing argument- that she's constrained by Biden. Not the idea that somehow she'd be justified in pivoting hard to the right and holding those views because "something something leftists took everything away from Hillary!!!" or whatever.
