I understand that right-wing Christian zealots are soulless ghouls who don't care about the Palestinians period and are waiting for the rapture or whatever, but how do most Dems still not sympathize more with Palestine after EVERYTHING that has gone on?Β :biblio:

Old heads since traditional media tries to paint it as Hamas vs Israel equally

A lot of people probably think of the "about equal" option as just wanting peace in their minds. A lot of folks also probably don't know the political context behind what's going on, and only know there's violence they want to end.

Yeah it's clear picking a Jewish VP would be the wrong choice at this point

Being Jewish and supporting Israel's genocide of Palestinians are not the same thing.Β

Even though Harris has improved in key demographics, she's still trailing Trump by 3%. As I've been saying, she needs to reach out to new demographics, especially white men, if she wants to succeed.

You are not American. Again, nobody cares about what you think someone needs to do.Β
Β

What she needs to do is show young voters she listens and understands about their concerns, as @Communionhas rightfully pointed out.Β
Β

What would help is not selecting an anti union Senator (Mark Kelly) and a Zionist (who might be beneficial to helping win PA still, in Shapiro)Β

Who invited Netanyahu to the U.S. ?Β :fish2:

I'm shocked. Democrats actually listening to progressives and campaigning for their vote?

Everyone and their grandmother now sees through this tactic of equating antisemitism and anti-Zionism.

Β

You tried it.

I'm having a hard time thinking of any Jewish elected officials that antizionists would find acceptable as a VP nominee

Kamala's husband and children are literally Jewish. People don't take issue with Shapiro because he is Jewish but bexause he is pro-genocide, anti-public education, pro-harsh sentencing and anti-leinency on criminal justice reform.Β

Again, I have too to much to get to so I'll wait for responses but I'm just going to leave this here :coffee2:Β

The gaslighting here is :ace:Β I'll let you debate what you think of as Zionism with the others here (and may need to take it to the conflict thread) because I have to move on to other news.Β

I always laugh seeing politicians who work tirelessly to ensure that their cities continue looking as they did in the 1980's described as "progressive"

Yeah, it's the Post. The Blaggo quote in here is bizarre. I never bought that Obama was holding his endorsement until the end of the convention and I actually totally buy most of the claims here, including that he thinks she's going to lose and have several blunders on her way there. The claim that he thinks she's a terrible debater I'm on the fence on - not on whether she is but that he said it.

Honestly it's a good thing that they're taking their time picking the VP instead of rushing head first picking the first favorite that everyone points as the perfect ticket.

It gives both the public + her team time to dig up all the skeletons, and also gauge the perception of each candidates online.

Β

When Biden dropped out and announced his endorsement for Harris, everyone was raving about Shapiro being the only and obvious choice, look at us now :skull:

Β

I bet Trump's camp wished they didn't settle so hastily on JD Vance because now he's more of a nuisance to them than a benefit.

Well they aren't wrong. He is progressive. Progressively making his city uninhabitable by sabotaging new housing that is.

Well I'm not really interested in debating anyone and I don't think anyone is changing their mind. If antizionism isn't antisemitism, that's using a much narrower definition of discrimination than has been in vogue in recent years. Trump's "shithole countries" comments would, of course, not be considered discriminatory under this framework. But that's all I'll say about that.

Nuisance? Early numbers indicate he's actively hurting Trump's approvals with independents

Vance is the biggest liability of a VP pick since Palin, but somehow far worse because Palin at least had a sort of delusional charm that made her funny. Vance just sounds like a hyper-online nerd. It's such a 180 from Mike Pence's quiet and well-mannered image, I really wonder what the RNC was thinking there.Β

Vance has the same problem as DeSantis where you can just tell he spends so much time on groyper twitter in a way that really turns off normal prople
