The last time Taylor spoke out about a Republican candidate they ended up keeping their seat. I just think celebrity endorsements are highly overrated. At the end of the day people are gonna vote based on whether or not they feel like a candidate is fighting for them. If Kamala can convey that with policy to back it up, then that is how to effectively combat Trump. Not if a billionaire singer says "vote for her". If anything I feel majority voters reject celebrities telling them what to do because they know they have nothing to lose regardless of the outcome.

I will say Trump choosing JD Vance and not a younger female moderate Republican was extremely stupid on his part regarding the suburban women vote.

Celebrity endrosements are not really that effective anymore. Even to where I live, it did not have that much effect last elections.

I mean that's horrible but people are fed up with this and the infighting.

The head of the call is literally condemning the action.

Kamala will not win if she is led astray by Dems trying to abandon Arab Americans and those upset over the genocide in Michigan.

Abuse these essential voices at your own peril.

So what is the downside to Tim Walz? Is he a p.o.s genocide supporter too? He kinda won me over with his his interview earlier.

I believe Walz has gotten more scrutiny for being largely middle of the road on Israel, but because his state is much more left wing and critical of actions like state investments in Israel than other governors would run into.

I believe the DFL legislative session has been held as a huge success but then things like the below ignite some criticism.

But in comparison:

In terms of friendliest to most antagonistic to progressives, the below is maybe how you'd rank them, though anyone can chime in and should if they have more info:

1. Walz

2. Pritzker

3. Beshear

4. Cooper

5. Kelly

6. Shapiro

And that you may see people pushing Beshear under the idea he is maybe the farthest "left" progressives could realistically push Kamala to go (see: progs pushing for Karen Bass in 2020 because it was clear Barbara Lee was too progressive to be under Biden's consideration).

But a world where Kamala is considering whether to go for Walz or Beshear would be better than her considering Shapiro as more and more skeletons come out about his record.

Edit- Not David Hogg of all people saying the VP can't be someone to Kamala's right and having centrists consultants melting down in his mentions. Fume! Turn the page! No more antiquated centrist politics of yesterday! We're not going back!

This is a HUGE mistake. Your end goal cannot be to JUST win.

If that's ALL you care about, you'll end up with a failed government like Biden's (according to RCP 68% of Americans think it's in the wrong track). And in 2028, Republicans will come back stronger than ever.

Why do you think Trump is polling so well this cycle? Because a majority of people do not like what Biden during her presidency. A lot of them will still not vote for Trump, but the fact someone with his rap sheet is even COMPETITIVE should be a WAKE UP CALL FOR DEMOCRATS.

It's not JUST about winning. It's about doing something. It's about helping people. It's about trying to make the world a better place.

Sorry but my #1 goal is to win and defeat Trump

🤷

David Hogg isn't really a shitlib the same way as Olivia Julianna and Harry Sisson are. The March for Our Lives students' hearts were always in the right place, and they're the ones who actually have ears on the ground listening to the grassroots.

The KHive HATES David Hogg because he's been willing to speak out against Joe's conservative tendencies, so I'm not surprised.

Ugh, I already disliked everything I heard about Shapiro but I was kind of admitting defeat to him being chosen as her VP solely based on his state.

Now I really *really* don't want her to choose him.

Walz seems to be a dark horse if we're going to take Twitter's word for it..

Why can't you see how important ending the violence in Gaza (and everywhere else) is to young people? It's possible to win with Walz and maybe Beshear even in unexpected states if they get enough youth turnout

Since 2016, Dems have always trended towards looking for the quickest path to an immediate victory rather than securing support for longterm success. Appealing to the handfuls of swingy moderates who vote every election and failing 50% of the time is easier for them to stomach than doing what would be necessary to get the plurality of voters who don't vote at all off the couch and in their corner.

In the case of Gaza, Biden and Shapiro's vision for for Israeli dominance over the region nearly perfectly aligns with Trump and the GOP, so it's a no-brainer. They don't have to sacrifice any of their views for votes while everyone who disagrees with them legitimately have nowhere else to go.

If I was DNC producer, I would make it a mini VMAs type show

Charli XCX - Von dutch (for Gen Z and LGBT)

Sheryl Crow - Woman in the White House (for Gen X and white voters)

Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA (for Boomers and straight people)

Beyonce - Freedom (for millennials and black voters)

Bad Bunny - Medley (for latino voters)

Blackpink - Medley (for Gen Z and Asian voters)

Taylor Swift - Medley (for single straight white girls)

Please no John Legend, it's not 2014 anymore.  Don't have bland fad musicians with no devoted and energized fanbase

We are really living in a timeline where Charli XCX is helping a US presidential candidate being more relatable to the new generation

Charli's endorsement being more impactful than Ariana's, Katy's, Demi's and maybe even Taylor's :bibliahh:  what a timeline

Ugh, I really hope she's not waiting until the DNC to announce her VP pick. I get why for surprise purposes, but we really need to get the word out and have them campaigning asap.

I don't know what to make of Allan Lichtman getting absolutely *wrecked* in the last few days. I didn't…loudly dislike his methodology and reasoning but the way the entire political spectrum has annihilated this guy has been kind of overwhelming. See responses after post.

I disagree with a lot of this but will post it anyways for the sake of discussion. And yes, I know some folks here have opinions about him already :coffee2:

My opinions on Kamala picking Roy Cooper have changed for the better and my opinions on picking Mark Kelly or Josh Shapiro have gotten exponentially worse.

Beshear still leads my list but I don't think he'll be picked given his uneven media appearances that Eric Holder unfortunately will obsess over.

I genuinely fear for Kamala's team if she is stupid enough to go with Mark Kelly at this point who has serious labor pitfalls. In fact I'd go as far as to say it could seriously impact her presidential chances in ways that are difficult for polling to track.
