Swing state, veteran, astronaunt, border credibility, Gabby Giffords is his wife, the positives are huge. Kelly and Shapiro make no sense. Kamala is running on Biden's slightly more union favorable record and distancing herself from Biden's full throated support of Bibi, so she'd nominate someone who has a poor track record with labor (Kelly) or a huge Zionist (Shapiro)? It makes no sense. Beshear and Williamson are the only sensible VP picks.Β

Sannie Posted July 23 Posted July 23 (edited) Maybe I'm just being delusional, but I have convinced myself that they have already chosen Andy and they're just dropping little hints to keep everyone off the scent. Maybe they want it to be a big surprise.Β Β A lot of the people reporting what she's currently doing were also reporting that the donors didn't want her and nobody wanted her to be the nominee only for her to then break fundraising records. Β Β that video clip of him, speaking in his soft country accent while defending transgender children, is resonating with a lot of people right now.Β Edited July 23 by Sannie 3 1

Blade Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I still think people are underestimating AZ electorally for Dems. The abortion issue on the ballot + Kari Lake's unpopularity + Kelly's popularity would mean AZ is in play especially when 2016 and 2020 show that Wisconsin is one of the least accurately polled states. I can see Wisconsin being a Trump blow out. 1

Shapiro already has a bad record with the youth and it be used against him. Mark Kelly is exactly who she needs to get those independents on her side. The military persona will make her look like the democrates really mean business.

I do not think he is ideal but at the same time I don't think he tanks the ticket.

On one hand, I think he helps us win the rustbelt, on the other hand what if the rustbelt comes down to Michigan voters or young voters? I can't figure out which one it could be. 3 minutes ago, WildAmerican said: Honestly, Biden didn't choose Kamala bc of her state, he chose her bc she was qualified and complemented the ticket and diversified the potential voter pool. So maybe a swing state won't be what's important for her pick.Β No, she definitely has to play it safe and pull somebody from a swing state or somebody that will appeal to swing state voters.Β Edited July 23 by Sannie
Aston Martin Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Beshear > Kelly but I'd take either over Shapiro tbh. Also if I see one more JD Vance ad on this page Β 2

bunnyeyes Posted July 23 Posted July 23 (edited) Β Prayer circle for Andy or less hopefully Mark it'll be one of them or a more progressive candidate, I am manifesting it. It is done. This pick will inadvertently set the tone. If Mark gets it though we'll need to strip him of any say on immigration issues though he at least expresses sympathy for migrants and the need to treat them with respect still not my first choice the deeper I dig but just okay as long as he doesn't go right. Come on Kamala we want progress! We want the buzz and excitement that mobilized voters in '08! Edited July 23 by bunnyeyes 1

It all depends if these donations are coming from safe democratic districts/states, or from toss up districts/states. 1.1 unique donors doesn't seem THAT impressive. That means each donor on average gave 100 USD, which may also indicate a lack of support from low-income earners. Β
Kylizzle Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I don't think any polling will be useful until at least September or even October. We can only speculate what Kamala will be like as a candidate.Β 6

She's known she could have to take over as the nominee for awhile considering Biden's age as POTUS, but where is the strong message? What are her three main policy issues? How is she different from Biden?
