2024 US Election Megathread ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Just pick the military guy if beshear isn't coming. Shapiro makes since for being in a battle key state but I feel like he wouldn't be a good choice for the youth and independents. He too pro-Israel and his history will be used against him eventually. Kamala needs someone who fill her weak points. That Kelly guy seems perfect to balance her out in rural towns and super white areas that he can use his military background to appeal to those nationalist and having a strong man persona to help Harris out or step if the country needs it.

As long as he's out there being a pro lgbt candidate now that's all I would care about.ย
ย

I still think picking him makes the most sense if the goal is to win.ย
ย

if it's not then anyone else will do ๐Ÿ’€

The last 48 hours have been such an emotional and mental whiplash because tell me why every single tweet from that "Biden's Wins" account used to fill me with an instinctual rage but now that the exact same person is posting the exact same types of tweets under the name "Kamala's Wins", my gut reaction is "yes legend, tell them!!!" :deadbanana2:ย :deadbanana2:

Because the entire issue was Biden himself. Now that he's gone, it's a breath of fresh air despite the air being partly the same. It's all optics; perception is reality. We now have the perception that everything has changed and is better so therefore it has and is.ย
ย

Leftists still trying the same "what I like most" bullshit instead of what's best for the country and can secure a win. Shocker.ย
ย

Beshear > Shapiro > Kelly

ย

Who will use Shapiro's past against him? Republicans can't because they have the same past. Leftists who still aren't happy weren't going to vote anyways. It's all about optics now. Shapiro will be less important in terms of those optics because he's second fiddle. The narrative is now that we have a new, younger candidate and that has people excited.ย

What happened? I just did a quick google search and found he was actually congratualed when he won by the HRC. They also endorsed him.

It's gotta be Beshear. He's handsome, Southern, and family oriented. Kamala will provide the personality and he's the eye candy. It's a done deal.

You just said two hours ago you didn't know or not if there were black people in Wisconsin.ย :rip:

The only swing state I worry about is WI, which admittedly is because idk the demographic. PA can be won if Harris is able to rock the black vote in places like Philly and Pittsburgh. And Michigan can be in the same way in places like Detroit. Idk if there's an equivalent to that in WI lol.ย

Maybe someone who isn't sure if black voters swayed how Wisconsin went in 2016 or 2020 isn't actually sure of "how to secure a win".ย

Whoever is behind current US foreign policy, they are not going to let Kamala change course, regardless of what she actually believes, she has to follow orders.

Me remembering now why I remember Shapiro's name despite paying zero attention to the PA Governor race... and it was because part of Fetterman's record highlight was that he called out Shapiro and others on PA's Board of Pardons for refusing to pardon people whose cases were handled by the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. Fetterman only getting Shapiro to stop blocking pardons because Fetterman threatened to run for governor in 2022 knowing that Shapiro wanted it.ย :rip:

Am I supposed to feel bad that I choose not to speak on things about which I'm not knowledgeable? That's what adults do. You should try it, queen.ย

I know MN, PA, and MI because I've lived in all three states. I'm not sequestered to a safe blue state where I get to enjoy the privilege of democrat legislators who will protect me, unlike you. Maybe if you had something to actually lose in this election, you'd be focused on helping and not virtue signaling.

Jesus Christ, do you expect these people to come out swinging and saying "**** Israel"? It's not happening. She has to play both sides.ย

ย

"play both sides" she's literally participating in a genocide, what are the both sides supposed to be?ย

You post chronically (same!) about politics on an online forum and deeply believe in the success of establishment Democrats + electoralism yet in 8 years have never thought to Google to find out that Milwaukee is a very black city or that Wisconsin underwent a 19% (!) drop in black voter turnout in 2016, especially in places like Kenosha County?

You're more than welcome to have a politick singularly centered around hating progressives - and by extension the marginalized demographics who side with progressivesย  -ย  but then also bare the responsibility for the natural outcome of such reactionary nonsense, especially when your last candidate you spent the last 3 years covering up rapidly worsening health for is now on the way to a long term care center.ย :rip:

The more I think about the EC bias Republican's have the more depressed I get.

ย

Smallest Amount of Votes needed for Clinton to beat Trump (2016):
Michigan: 10,704 / 16 EV

Wisconsin: 22,748 / 10 EV
Pennsylvania: 44,292 / 20 EV

ย

<78k votes prevented Clinton from winning despite winning the popular vote by 2M.

ย

Smallest Amount of Votes needed for Trump to beat Biden (2020):

Arizona: 10,457 / 11 EV

Georgia: 11,779 / 16 EV

WI: 20,702 / 10 EV

42,918 votes for it to have been a 269-269 tie which probably would have resulted in a Trump presidency since the House of Reps got to pick based on 1 vote per 1 state.

ย

A 270-268 Trump win would have added NE-02 with 22,091 / 1 EV.

That means just over 65k votes separated Trump from a definitive win over Biden, while Biden got over 7M more votes.

Yup our system is not a fair system. But it will never change because the gop are worried they will never win an election again.ย

Here is how Wikipedia summarizes this election (so far.) It's really one for the ages.

Quote

ย

Incumbent presidentย Joe Biden, a member of theย Democratic Party, initiallyย ran for re-electionย and became the party's presumptive nominee on March 12.ย However, following what was widely viewed as a poor performance in theย June 2024 presidential debateย and increasing age and health concerns,ย he withdrew from the raceย on July 21 and endorsed Vice Presidentย Kamala Harris, who launchedย her presidential campaignย the same day.ย She secured enough delegate endorsements to become the new presumptive nominee a day later.ย Biden's withdrawal from the race makes him the first eligible president sinceย Lyndon B. Johnsonย inย 1968ย not to stand for re-election.

ย

Biden's predecessor,ย Donald Trump, a member of theย Republican Party, isย running for re-electionย for a second, non-consecutive term, after losing to Biden in theย 2020 presidential election.ย Trump would become the presumptive nominee on March 12.ย In the run-up to the election, on May 30, 2024, Trump wasย convicted of 34 feloniesย related toย falsifying business records, becoming the first president to be found guilty of a crime.ย On July 13, he wasย shot in an assassination attemptย at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
