I don't imagine the first polls are going to be great for Harris but it at least feels like she can actively campaign and try and make up the deficit.

By the end there, Biden was barely doing a campaign event a week. :deadbanana2:

I talked with some of my buddies and no one is taking her candidacy seriously, they're simply not even motivated to leave house and vote for her in November :rip: They don't even care that other side has Trump that they kinda despise :gaycat6: She needs to campaign hard, coz amount of such possible voters is really high :giraffe:

That's exactly the problem she had in 2019. There was a lot of online noise and cheers around her, but then when it came down to actually VOTING for her, no one did. She got 1% and that's why she quit before the primaries. It was embarrassing.

She's just not very likable and I'm surprised people here don't really want to acknowledge that fact.

Is anyone else troubled by the lack of physical presence of Biden? I cannot believe we had a president step down from his campaign with no video message or personal appearance at all.

Something is very off about this.

Kamala better throw Charli a bone for all the promo and fund the Apple video with some of that 80 million

Yes, honestly. Something is strange about this situation. Why not wait a few days for him to feel better if the plan was for the Dems to rally around Kamala all along?

I'm going to play the hardened cynic and say that Beshears approval rating wouldn't be as high as it is if he wasn't essentially just a pretty figurehead with super majorities against him opposing almost every single move if not overriding his vetoes.

He's the non-threatening guy coasting on personality because there's no chance of him actually having to truly articulate policy positions he can't pass :rip: I mean, Communion had some solid points, but it'd be another situation entirely if his state was remotely competitive and democratic :rip:

This isn't true, btw. He's very, very loved in KY because he just listens to people. He won his re-election against a Trump-endorsed candidate by a huge margin because of how much he is liked and trusted. Mind you, he presided over COVID and "shut down churches" and still blew the Republican out of the water. Whenever there is an issue, he's on the ground trying to fix it. A lot of these people just want to be heard. That's all it takes.

Your buddies weren't going to vote either way tbh. The numbers we're seeing over the past 24 hours are record-breaking and contradict our anecdata @Blade :eli:

YES! This was the point I was trying to make earlier. Both Trump and Biden had hit their ceilings and so Kamala has a chance to create a ceiling of her own. Her entering the race, I don't foresee, isn't going to boost Trump. He'll stay where he's at.

he's a million years old and recovering from both a virus and the knowledge that he's been rejected by everyone like a post-Obama Katy Perry single - I wouldn't want cameras in my face yet either :toofunny2:

BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY TIME TO WAIT LOL. Kamala needed to hit the ground running and she knew as much. She is doing this right.

And the Dems are rallying. They're not waiting either.

Morning Consult (post-Biden drop out) and Civiqs (pre Biden drop out) have the same findings. Harris brings the national race closer than Biden did by gaining more of the youth, Black, Hispanic, and Independent voters than Biden did.

I'm cautious, but this could be all it takes in places like MI, PA, and WI.
