Sannie Posted July 21 Posted July 21 This could be the result if Shapiro is on the ballot. Imagine getting the exact amount needed to win.

Kelly seems to be well liked in Arizona, but I'm not sure if anything would be enough to keep Arizona blue this cycle. And even if Arizona does stay blue, Pennsylvania + at least one other Rust Belt state is still needed in any realistic Dem path to 270. I still say the simplest path forward here is to pick someone who already has credibility in the Rust Belt or nearby 1

He's "Young", "good looking", white, and male. It's what is needed right now. He also has incredible popularity in PA. He will bring in PA for Harris. I'd agree, his image and home state advantage seem the best. Some of his policies might not resonate well with the more progressive voters, but I'm not sure if that's important at this stage and in these circumstances or if it outweighs the pros. NC's Cooper would also be a good pick, but he's a bit older; it could be a good choice to have a younger ticket, but his 'generic experienced politician' look does have some draws. Beshear is also fine, but unlike PA or NC, there ain't no chance Kentucky turns blue. Also he seems kinda dorky idk.
Vermillion Posted July 21 Posted July 21 4 minutes ago, Sannie said: All of these are theoretically "good", but only one makes sense when it comes to what needs to be won in November. Mark Kelly can win us AZ. Roy Cooper could possibly win us NC. Beshear will win us nothing. Shapiro could win us the entire Rust Belt. BE SMART, KAMALA. BE SMART. 1 minute ago, shelven said: I don't hate the choice, but I don't love it. They don't have a choice but to pick Shapiro at this point. 3
GhostBox Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Having gabby Giffords out campaign would be so impactful 😢 I love her 1
Sannie Posted July 21 Posted July 21 We don't ******* need AZ. AZ can go to Hell. We need the RUST BELT. 2 1 1

We'll be able to sleep that night.
WildAmerican Posted July 21 Posted July 21 gag this is all so surreal, the way I've been seated watching cable news this afternoon 4 1
FameFatale Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Well the Supreme Court said Biden can do whatever on presidential business… so he's got a couple months to circle back on those student loans. 2

I am not used to such competence from this party. Neeed him to go full rogue now. He has nothing to lose. Order your administration to delete all student loans. Get with some kind of developer who will be able to inject code into the system to erase all the data. Sign executive orders out the wazoo. 4 1
ATRL Moderator Azulito Posted July 21 ATRL Moderator Posted July 21 Now that Biden is out, the focus will start to shift to Trump and his age. He is about to plummet in the polls Literally all Kamala has to do is pick an exciting VP option and this election is over. 5

Like what's her campaign slogan going to be?
Mike91 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Shapiro or Kelly is fine. I'd prefer Shapiro but wouldn't complain about Kelly. 2

I think they didn't have a choice when weighing all the pros and cons to go this route over a contested convention but I honestly still think she's going to lose, for multiple reasons I've already unpacked here. We've now got a shot and it'll be much closer in the Electoral College but I still think she's going to lose.
