People focus too much on the personal characteristics of the candidates. The incumbent party is judged by how they governed. Do you truly believe that Biden's poll numbers and approval rating are because of how he speaks in public? Kamala can speak in full sentences and her approval rating is worse than Biden's. Congress's approval rating is worse than Biden's

If your fav Marianne won the Democrat nomination, she would be viewed first as a Democrat. She exists in the context and how Biden governed the past 4 years will be the most important factor of any democrats chances on winning the White House

Marianne and Kamala have room to grow though. Biden's name recognition isn't shifting and beliefs in his cognitive abilities have declined. I think the image of Biden is baked in whereas other Dems have room to build goodwill among the public.

He seems to be acknowledging that he mixes up names sometimes and whatnot, which is smart. It takes away the power of the 'story' or 'shame'. Partner that with a strong economic message and case against trump/project 2025....he might be able to pull it off. That is if the Dem party can come together. It doesn't seem like he is dropping out at this point, so I'm sure everyone will get back on board. The polls seem to be rebounding again for him, too.  Who knows how this will end, but last week I was sure it was #joeover and now I'm not so sure.

I love how one decent poll comes out and they try to shift the narrative. :rip: Can't wait until the next bad one comes out and things shift again. :toofunny3:

These Blue MAGA gotcha attempts are so braindead because like... if this woman was running for president, completely shat the bed in a massive televised debate, shat the bed again in an interview that was supposed to rehabilitate her after the terrible debate, and THEN did this mix-up, all in the course of two weeks, I would absolutely be questioning her fitness to run for president as well :rip:

When did Bernie Sanders become such a coward loser?  I know he got cheated from the nomination twice and never attempted to protest it, but this is humiliating even for him.

Being older than Biden himself what is he supposed to say? :deadbanana:

Bernie is just looking at the bigger picture, defeating Trump. The infighting does not help us. Either Biden will drop or he wont, but hounding him without an alternative does not benefit anyone. 🙃 Biden just screwing us over every day he decides to stay in.

I don't think Biden will drop before the convention anymore. If he does it'll be after a horrible showing at the next debate when it will *actually* be too late to replace him on ballots. Too many Blue MAGA's are saying it's currently too late to replace because of deadlines and possible legal challenges. They're wrong but once the convention passes, those fears will actually valid.

My only other hope (other than Obama/Pelosi like i said earlier) is that internal polling is still so terrible that more Senators other than just Welch come out against Biden on Monday.

This is one part of it, but the other part of it is the big difference between being some meaningless cable newscaster and being the president of the United States who is supposedly America's singular guard against the impending destruction of democracy :deadbanana4: Like I'm not worried about whether swing voters in Wisconsin think that Kristen Welker is senile because swing voters aren't being asked to vote for Kristen Welker to single-handedly prevent Trump from returning to power :rip:

It's just been a mixture of fascinating and horrifying to watch the party that has screamed about the impending end to democracy suddenly stop caring about whether or not they actually win an election. They've just completely lost the plot by turning this into a "we love old man Joe and we need to have his back because he's been so nice to us!" thing. What makes it even more frustrating is that the only reason Biden got the 2020 nomination in the first place was because of "electability", but now that he's becoming increasingly unelectable, suddenly those same voters don't want to have a conversation about electability anymore because... it's mean?

"Our country fell into fascism because we didn't want to hurt some grandpa's feelings" is certainly going to make for an interesting chapter in US history textbooks in a few decades!

This reply nails it. It's wild how quickly the goalposts shifted on Biden. In isolation, that press conference would have been considered a disaster, but now the apocalyptic debate is being used as a baseline and anything remotely above it is considered a "good day"?? Pure insanity.

Nah, they seem to think in their weakened position they have more leverage over a wounded Biden than they would have a replacement.

The issue is the average left-wing voter doesn't view this strategy as viable because Biden broke tons of his progressive promises in 2020.

Am I meant to believe a weakened Biden will finally reward progressive politicians and progressive voters if we stick by him in this attempted ousting?
