Blade Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Changing course a bit... I wonder if the Trump camp is waiting to announce the VP pick because they're letting the Biden media frenzy run its course or if they genuinely still don't know who to pick. The worst case scenario for us (and best case for Trump) would be if he picks a younger minority that appears socially liberal on certain issues like gay marriage and moderate on issues like abortion (even if they secretly aren't liberal/moderate). That would be the final nail in the coffin. Might as well give Trump the biggest electoral vote share since Obama '08. 1

But does a person who meets those criteriaย andย is a Trump loyalist even exist in the current GOP? Because we know there's no way in hell he's picking someone who's even been remotely critical of him in the past. The Venn diagram of GOP politicians who are capable of appearing socially liberal/moderate and GOP politicians who have pledged undying loyalty to Trump feels like it has a very narrow overlap (if any at all).

Mr. Mendes Posted July 9 Posted July 9 48 minutes ago, 19SLAYty9 said: This is already a slight reversal of his answer 2 days ago tho I don't think its a reversal so much as a clarification.ย ย In there here and now, July of 2024, I don't think Bernie wants to just blindly support Biden. He has key disagreements and has made them known. I don't even think Bernie would be opposed to potentially seeking another nominee. But that's here and now.ย ย He knows that if Biden is on the ballot in November, regardless of how he feels now, and even how he feels then, then he's got to support Biden because he knows doing anything else is handing Trump the election.ย ย And that's the thing we've got to keep in mind here. We can have these discussions about a replacement, have these discussions about Biden's failures, about the failures of the Democrats. All that is good for the future and I think welcome. But on election day, if the two names on the ballot are still Donald J. Trump and Joseph R. Biden, then we have to check Biden's name whether we want to or not because doing anything else ensures Trump wins.ย ย I don't think contradicts anything he's said before. He wants to have these talks now and lay out these conditions now. But he's also smart enough to know that if that discussion now doesn't change anything, then we've got a responsibility to first and foremost keep that psychopath out of the White House. Then we can come back to the conversation after.ย ย It's the balanced take that all of us who feel strongly in the negative about Biden should really be trying to calibrate to.ย 1 1
GhostBox Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Not the media really stepping in it with the whole "a Parkinson's Doctor visited Biden 8 times" when in reality ย He's actually there to visit the other people in the White House because that's his job๐ ย again I get the Biden story is legitimate to talk about but shew they have really done a disservice to themselves this past week. ๐ ย 1
ClashAndBurn Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Seems like he's consolidated his support. ย ย There's no hope now. Time to get prepared for Trump 2.0 1
byzantium Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Does anyone know of organizations preparing for Trump's second term? ย I would love to help out.ย

dman4life Posted July 9 Posted July 9 All of this "Biden is sharp and coherent behind closed doors" rhetoric from the Democrats is leaving such a bad tasteย 1
ClashAndBurn Posted July 9 Posted July 9 "felt like a funeral" sounds like a very optimistic message for a party that's absolutely guaranteed to trounce Trump, as certain people would tell it, no? 1
shelven Posted July 9 Posted July 9 ย In other words, the Dems have just fully become the GOP now. They knowย their candidate is fundamentally unfit to be in the race, but they're too scared to say it publicly because they don't want to piss off the cult portion of the voting base that cares more about one individual person than the party as a whole. Blue MAGA indeed 4
Blade Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Well that's better than them leaving the meeting having consolidated around the idea that Biden is fit to be President 5
cloudbusting Posted July 9 Posted July 9 the discord doesn't give me like a naive amount of hope, but just enough to keep the meltdown on hold until after the press conferenceย ย bombing that after trying to do post-debate damage control would require a miracle to recover from
