2024 US Election Megathread ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

I hadn't even seen a video of Biden in months, and I have to say - he sounds so barely there that I'm legitimately terrified now. Holy ****. How on earth is this man even THINKING of staying in? At this point, I 100% think Harris would have a better shot at beating Trump. They could even pull Newsom or Whitmer together for a win more easily than Bidenย :deadbanana:

biden's voice is so slurred that its hard to understand what he's saying some of the time. he trails off and has a deer-in-headlights look of panic on his face whenever not forcing a smile. it doesn't matter what heย says now, his appearance and demeanor further cement the issue just by himย existing.ย

ย

i think what the biden defenders don't understand is that by democrats telling the public that biden is fine and to just ignore what they are seeing, the middle ground unengaged voter who is relatively spooked by jan 6 or abortion or whatever then sees both parties as ruthless gaslighters who will say anything to win and won't admit the obvious truth even gun to their head. itย equivocates democrats and republicans into one corrupt blobย and makes the character attack on trump fall completely flatย which willย noย doubtย lead on-the-margin voters to just not show up. the attacks on hillary as corrupt and out only for her own ambition worked insanely well to suppress turnout (because they were mostly trueย :gaycat6:)ย even from anย even more blatantly corrupt messenger. same situation here, but 10x worse.ย

This is the perfect articulation of this, thank you.

ย

A lot of 2020 was filled with back and forth debates that saw a kind of consensus that voters are not ideological, but interpersonal. Biden and Bernie formed strong coalitions because they had developed a sense of *trust* that no other candidates in the race could build up. Exit polls showed this. Voters trusted Biden, of his tenure as VP to Obama, to know how to beat Trump, and even things like 70% of Biden voters in the primary came away with saying things like "I think Sanders cares about people like me."

ย

Hillary in 2016 was basically destroyed on the basis and understanding that she was a corrupt politician who held private vs public views who didn't care about people.

ย

Whatever arguments people had about why Biden could and did beat Trump in 2020 are now no longer valid or applicable as long as he lies to voters that everything is fine.

im sure the media will demand an interview from him as wellย

Trump gives interviews all the time. He's just staying out of the limelight for now because Biden is doing his work for him better than he could by hanging himself with every public appearance he's made in the last week :ahh:ย

ย

Biden is by far the least accessible president the press has ever had to put up with, and for good reason. His aides have done an excellent job of shielding him from journalists so that he wouldn't be exposed for the sham that he is and dismiss all the accurate reporting on his decline as bad faith rightwing attacks.

I genuinely don't think there's anything Biden can do at this point to change the perception around him.ย He can barely speak or even form a coherent sentence. :deadbanana:ย He's clearly in mental decline and it's not going to get better at his age. Thankfully this is all happening now and not in September or October.ย He needs to step down before it's too late.ย

KHive were deranged but that's separate from her.

Personally I think it's telling that the Bernie Bros are willing to separate the fan club/troll army from the idol, but the KHive (being the hateful former Hillary Hens that they are) centered their whole online identities on praying for Bernie Sanders to suffer another heart attack out of spite for his supporters.

Yeah I'm sorry, this man can honestly go directly to hell. He's basically just openly admitting now that "Trump is an existential threat to democracy" is just a line he reads to satisfy voters and that he doesn't actually believe it. Like how do you spend an entire campaign offering NOTHING of substance to voters in terms of why you're an actively good candidate because you're relying solely on "other guy bad", only to now say you don't think the other guy's all that bad after all because we can just say "good game, we tried" if he returns to power???

ย

I'll admit a part of me did feel bad for him on a personal level that he was going through all of this, even if I want him to drop out from an electoral strategy standpoint. But after this quote, I truly hope he suffers every day he has to hear everyone talk about how his brain is mush and then feels excrutiating shame and embarrassment when he either finally drops out or loses and goes down in American history as one of the most selfish politicians of all time. F*ck this power-hungry narcissist.

Wasn't your whole case with Hunter - that Biden wasn't liable just because he's his son. So what even is this post from you? Exact proof of what I was saying earlier that you can only think in black and white. There's no depth or critical thinking from you. Just blatant hypocritical t!t for tat rhetoric. It's toxic :deadbanana4:

Ever. :lmao:

He's 100% not going to drop out solely because he thinks any other Dem who follows wouldn't be as hawkish on foreign policy, oh my godย :deadbanana4:

He doesn't give a **** because when Trump is re-elected, Biden will just walk away with a bruised ego. But ultimately, he'll be fine. It's we, the people, who will suffer the most. And I said the same about Clinton, who also should have dropped out because the writing was on the wall. Biden is worse.

ย

He's the threat to democracy because he's practically handing the presidency over to Trump and his weak response is well, at least I tried. Losing all key-swing states and losing even non key-swing states. This can't be stressed enough. He's OVER and there is no winning path navigating forward. 7 out of 10 voters don't even think he'll live through another term. over 75% of dem voters believe another candidate would be a stronger choice to defeat Trump. I'm so ******* frustrated with the political climate we're in. ย

And apparently his ******* wife and crackhead son, Hunter, are the two prominent voices that's encouraging him to stay in the race. And of course they both also benefit a great deal from his presidency. Jill gets to continue her vanity project of being first lady and Hunter gets to rack in more millions.

Biden has 2 more full days until the floodgates open in Washington and an unprecedented amount of elected Democrats call on him to get out of the race

The interview was awful :deadbanana4:

He needs to step down and hand Kamala the presidency, but I doubt Kamala would even want to inherit all of his current messes

She'd kind of have to. If she dared said "sorry! No! Don't want it!" She could never run for president again. It would be an awful look

At this point Biden is going to lose. Just run Kamala. She chooses ย actual exciting VP choice and she still probs will lose but the down ballot races won't be as bad. Hey, if she debates well, she could win. I'd rather run her now than in 2028 and get her win / loss over with. I actually think her chances in this scenario of winning are better than in 28. If they lose, she won't get the nomination in 28.ย
