Everyone (including myself) has gotten a little carried away with the idea of replacing Biden.ย ย Even as a visibly old man, Biden still has the best chance to beat Trump. Biden has been in the public eye for decades, just like Trump. Everyone recognizes him and can picture him in their head. A majority of voters are massively uninformed, I wouldn't be surprised if most of them don't know what Kamala even looks like. Replacing Biden 4 months before the election has massive downsides. When an average American sees Trump and a person they barely know on the ballot, they will most likely pick the person they recognize. Name recognition is kingย ย Polls will shift, maybe not as much as Biden needs them to, but the end results will be a near tie. You mentioned that Biden was up 10 points around this time in 2020, but on Election Day Biden won by 3. A 7 point shift.ย I am not saying Biden's campaign is salvageable and I have ethical issues supporting him, but he still has the best chance of winning. Kamala or any other shoehorned candidate would lose by a larger margin ย You have no proof that Biden is the most electable based on visibility. Don't you think a mini-primary and an open convention followed by ads, interviews and a Trump debate would make the replacement recognizable as well? 1
GraceRandolph Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I'm over the idea that we should stick with someone who can't even campaign. The downside to replacing Biden is actually fairly small atp 1 1

People know and are familiar with Bidenย And still rejecting him. ย It has not gotten better in the last 12 months and will not get better in the next 4. ย If you replace him now, you have time to get the name of the replacement out there with time to spare. ย ย Additional things to point out with Harris and Whitmer. ย Harris ran for president in 2020 and is the current VP. ย She is known. Whitmer is the Governor of Michigan, she is well known in the key Midwest states that the democrats need to win. ย 2

Communion Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) I'm sorry but the "pushing me out the race" **** is infuriating. I saw a Biden liberal tweet calling this "an attempted coup". ย Literal flames around my head knowing that Biden could only win the 2020 primary by such dirty tactics ACTUALLY being used BY Biden. ย Biden has never "had the will of the Democratic party". He has never had a mandate based on policy. He was never the candidate most people wnated. You can even go as far as saying he has never even legitimately won a Democratic primary, whether in 2020 or in 2024.ย ย The party, media apparatus and powers that be meddled in the primary because people who vote Republican for the last 40 years don't wanna pay taxes and Chris Matthews cried on TV fearing he'd be rounded up and shot. Biden is dying before our eyes and the necessary intervention required to stop Trump from winning is being framed by people who'll be unemployed if Biden steps aside as "a power grab" or a "coup". You can't call it a coup if he doesn't know he's president.ย ย ย Edited July 5 by Communion 3 4
