What's with the AOC vs Schumer stuff? Is she really running for Senate? I feel like I missed an important development. :jonny:ย

It is funny how Dems have become stuck in only reacting to policy and not crafting their own under Trumpism that tariffs have basically just been the Big Tech centrists trying to become the dominant response and re-popularize the idea of unfettered free trade as the default inverse to blanket tariffs.... despite the fact that the most significant thing to have launched Trump into the start of his presidential career was Hillary Clinton looking into a camera and telling poor white workers in Ohio to learn Javascript.

ย

We're literally just living through endless loops of the same contradictions of capitalism.

ย

Bernie's entire foray into presidential politics started with his disgust at Clinton's free trade views and thinking, if automation was an inevitable, the US has a duty to lower the costs of living experienced by the average worker (healthcare, education), not the dog-eat-dog, 're-train or die' barbarism she offered instead.

JD Vance is just not likeable at all and he doesn't have a lick of charisma....I'm willing to bet he will not come out of the Republican primary I'm 2028

Went to my city's April 5th protest, there were thousands of people but... Gen Zs were notably in few numbers.

ย

Please Gen Z, recognize that this lifestyle is not a guarantee. The modern comforts were won by people putting their life on the line for the working class. I'm so inspired, seeing my local Boomers, Millennials, and X show up, but Zs are notably absent. Please show up. the future is not guaranteed. We all need you. :weeps:

I've noticed the protests (as well as the people showing up to town halls) are mostly older and white lol. Pretty ironic when you figure who's traditionally been the Democratic base. Maybe everyone else is still checked out.

Maybe for the reason I said, people want to hear from people they saw as leaders? Is it so bad to ask that of someone? I don't look at Reddit comments, nor Twitter comments, since they're all cesspools.
ย

I don't know if this is the intention but it sounds like you're saying Harris is being treated unfairly, but I think if you're going to take up a mantle such as VPOTUS then accept a nomination to run as the party's nominee, people might look to your guidance for leadership and I think that's a fair assessment to have. Especially in the face of what people feel is an unprecedented evil in Trump.ย

I'd be fine with her disappearing, she's damaged goods in my eyes. But if people want leadership, I can see why they'd ask that of her, as a "what do we do now?" type of question. I would feel disappointed if Bernie was silent after the election as well.ย

Harris is being treated unfairly. I am outright implying that. Why is a woman expected to do unpaid labor to save the country after her loss when that's never been expected of any other former candidate? We don't know if she's running again so it's unfair to force her to hold rallies when she's a private citizen, all the other politicians are not.

ย

Yes it's an unprecedented time but literally so is every other event that's happened in the 300000 years since homo sapiens started to walk upright. Things have been unprecedented in this country since 9/11. That's the nature of humanity. She shouldn't be called specifically to do things without being allowed to rake a break first affer helping run the country. And it's not judt me who believes that, that's the general sentiment of the 92% that voted for her.

There's a high likelihood she runs for president again, and would have the highest name recognition of any contenders so it's highly possible she wins the nomination. In fact, you could say that the nomination is hers to lose at this point. Democrats don't blame her for her loss (even though they really should) and are unfortunately willing to give her another chance so she can lose in a landslide to JD Vance in 2028.

JD is a charisma vacuum. Say what you want about Kamala but people genuinely got excited with the brat summer thing, people like her recognizable laugh, her recognizable gifs and reactions and she's gorgeous (that's subjective but let's be real, we all have eyes).ย

ย

JD has none of those things and can't control the maga party, he has no cult of personality. He's an empty shel and people can see that. The only way JD would win anything against Kamala is with voter suppression and other nefarious strategies.

This is a failed analogy because Republicans treat their losers like the pariah they deserve to be.

ย

The GOP failed running the old establishment neocon so they pivoted in 2012 in trying to run a Wall Street big exec business guy. They actually try to learn from failure.

ย

Obama ironically only was able to beat Romney by positioning himself as for unions and against free trade, framing Romney as the private equity guy who represented all the Wall Street investment types who celebrated shipping millions of middle class Midwest Americans' good-paying factory jobs overseas.

ย

The very same Romney-kind of archetype centrist Dems are - for some reason - now trying to fashion the Democratic Party in the image of.ย

ย

I don't expect anything of Kamala, but also think it's malpractice for anyone to think someone as meritless and unqualified as her should ever hold public office again.

ย

She shouldn't run for Governor of California. She shouldn't run for president in 2028. She should simply.. go away! Forever! Go join Uber's board or something!

That wasn't an analogy. I was genuinely asking, please don't assume my intentions.

ย

Next, Kamala is incredibly qualified, just because you dislike her doesn't make unqualified.ย  A degree in poly sci and economics, a lawyer, an AG, a state senator. She's the most qualified going by those calculations. She may not always have the best instincts but no president does, we're all just humans.

they were excited that BIDEN was GONE. It had nothing to do with her. She was genuinely the most hated vice president to ever exist, and everything about that enthusiasm wave that came after the candidate switch was extremely fake and manufactured. Brat Summer was an actual ******* joke, and it had no impact anywhere outside of the internet- specifically Gay TikTok and Stan Twitter :rofl:ย

ย

Underestimate JD Vance at your peril. But his 2028 campaign would undoubtedly be better set-up for success than Brat Summer Reloaded: The Re-Up will be for multiple reasonsย :ahh:ย

Not if Trump continues to break the US at the knees.ย  JD is heavily associated with this administration, he can't escape that.

I believe having a coherent ideology is a necessary qualification to be a politician! Voters have already rejected technocracy and identity reductionism.ย

What does Kamala Harris believe in?ย

There actually isn't any evidence of her running again besides polls and speculation, so all this energy should be shifted towards better potential candidates.ย

Sadly, every single one of the potential candidates for 2028 are worse than Kamala in every conceivable way. If AOC is actually doing the much-needed work of primarying and ousting Chuck Schumer, that means the entire rest of the "viable" primary field will be Josh Shapiro, Gavin Newsom, and Andrew Cuomo.

ย

None of whom I will ever in a million years vote for, by the way. I would honestly rather see Donald Trump as God King Emperor for life before EVER casting a vote for the IDF volunteer or the rapist mafioso. For all intents and purposes, Kamala Harris is actually the least bad option for 2028, and I despise the reality of that statement with every fiber of my being.

How can you say those things in the same sentence when Trump was found liable for sexual abuse of E. Jean Caroll. And all the other allegations about him. And how Netanyahu recently called him "the greatest friend Israel has ever had"?

ย

And again, I'm not saying who to vote for. Just have the same standards for everyone.

Things are grim. But I am very excited for Trumps forthcoming approval rating nosedive. It will be of legendaric proportions. Schadenfreude is all that's leftย
