Kamala was also the front runner, no?

Not sure but she was competing with Klobuchar and Warren.

They are keeping Beshear's trip to DC hush hush because he's the top choice, and they want Monday to be a surprise. /cope :gaycat6:

They used to work together when Fetterman was Lt. Governor and Shapiro was Attorney General. It's pretty telling :chick2:

I need to be put in a voluntary medical coma for the next two days (and then maybe for the next four years depending on what happens Monday).

Naaah, he's out. I think he would have been a good pick, but it's not between Shapiro, Kelly and Walz. Though I think she'll pick Shapiro.

jnjkbfkjnfg I'm gonna lose my mind. I'm sorry but this is a STUPID PERSON'S IDEA OF POLITICS. THAT'S NOT HOW STATE VS NATIONAL DYNAMICS WORK. :deadbanana4:

Ed Rendell won the PA governorship in 2008 by 20 points (+10 over Obama 2008).

Tom Wolf won the PA governorship in 2018 by 18 points (+17 over Biden 2020, +21 over Clinton 2016)

"+14 is a +1 Biden state" is literally like an argument only someone who doesn't actually know anything about politics besides the presidential election every 4 years could make and seeing it repeated on Twitter (oddly only by Never Trump Republicans) is making me lose my mind. :deadbanana4:

By this logic, Beshear would be the most logic pick at +1 and +5 in a -23 Biden state.

I mean don't we know that she's meeting with all the candidates once and has already met with Buttigieg and likely Beshear? And it seems the rest tomorrow? Isn't that all we know?

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if she picked Pete, because democrats incompetence knows no bounds

Also this alleged logic made me curious if Ed Rendell - already a popular white governor in PA since 2004 - was ever in consideration for Obama's VP list and I realized I have no clue what his VP shortlist looked like (and assume many other users wouldn't either) as I could only vote for Obama's re-election, not his first time running.

His VP shortlist in 2008 was:

- Joe Biden, DE-Senator & 2008 Candidate
- Evan Bayh, IN-Senator
- Chris Dodd, CT-Senator
- Jack Reed, RI-Senator
- Bill Richardson, NM-Governor & 2008 Candidate
- Kathleen Sebelius, KS-Governor
- Tim Kaine, VA-Governor (dddddd)

It's hard not to know a lot of politicking when, y'know, haven't lived it, so some dynamic could be evading me, but this looks like the clear aim was always 'find a white moderate'. Surely Obama (IL-Senator) is one of the clearest examples of "hurr hurr just pick someone from a swing state!!" is weird folk wisdom that isn't real? :deadbanana4:

Not to mention the fact that Mastriano was batsh*t INSANE. You could have run a rock with googly eyes as the Democratic nominee for PA Governor in 2022 and it probably would have finished +10 against Mastriano. It's so exhausting watching all the same pundits who (rightfully) hammered home that the theme of the 2022 midterms was the GOP's terrible candidate quality suddenly pretend like candidate quality makes no difference to these margins.
